Thanks for the link. The Z06 appears to be a beast to contend with in a straight line.

The funny thing is the the SRT-10 provided higher G's on the skipad and outbreaked the Z06. I have to say, that surprised me the most.

One can focus on the highs if one wants to but, what gets my attention is the "numb steering" and "squirrelly" chassis.

As a road racer these would be negative features.
It doesn't have as good brakes as the SRT and less cornering capability.

Probably makes for a more comfortable daily driver although I use my SRT daily just fine.

Motor Trend it was a little closer w/ the Z06 pulling 1.02g.

Comparing apples to oranges is not going to get you anywhere.

As stated many many times before NO viper was ever officialy tested at the ring. The results posted are just private owners driving their own cars, not to mention that they are the EURO versions as well.

There is no doubt in my mind that a gen 2 viper not to even mention a gen 3 will run the ring in sub 8 min range.

That being said the new z06 is a beast, and no matter what we all say its easily on par in performance with a viper if not better. Its unfortunate that Chryslers responce to the z06 was a blue paint job.

Interesting how they went to the Nurburgring, but didn't run the long loop, they ran the F1 loop. Maybe they were afraid no one could touch the lap time set by the blue devil, not the standard Z06? You know the ring, you pay a few Euros, you can run it. GM probably didn't allow them to.

R&T's bests were 0-60 in 4.2 sec. and the 1/4 mile in 12.3 sec. @ 116.6 mph.

R&T also ran 12.3 in a Gen III SRT

Which would mean the cars are about equal....

Unlike the statements we've been hearing over and over that the Z06 will 'blow the SRT-10 into the weeds' crapola.

Well two mags run times with in 2/10 of each other yet you believe the slower time.

MT ran 11.5, C&D 11.7 and R&T ran 12.3, but of course you're going w/ 12.3. Wow that's not suprising. LOL

Not gonna argue back and forth, especially with someone who is a mopar enthusiast on a VIPER site. Two tenths is not being "blown away". IMO

R&T says 12.3 for a Viper and 12.3 for a C6Z06. Same driver? Whoever was driving was a slowshiftingmutha. Grandmutha. In both cases. I do think MT and C&D 'tweek' the numbers to compensate for weather/altitude/humidity. That too is BS. They should all publish the location and weather of the tests, publish the exact numbers, (like R&T ) but first get someone who can drive!

I think a novice in a Viper will be a few ticks slower than a Vette because of the traction control computer in the Vette. Quarter mile runs in a snake take some practice.

If traction control is left on, a 13sec pass would be considered an awesome run. Most Z06s either run in "competitve driving" mode or will disable everything. The few C5 Z06s I've seen run in Bowling Green with TC left on have ran 14sec passes on average. :)
