"In response to Shane Fausel's accusations of Doug Page and Specialty Cars... Here's a guy that buys a car with a clean title that looked like it was represented and then through no fault of Specialty Cars finds that it has been rebuilt. As a matter of fact, it was John Travolta's Viper and some insurance company washed the title. Is that the fault of Doug Page or the other 4-5 owners previous to Doug Page getting the car? No intent to cheat or defraud was intended by Doug Page as he had no knowledge of the history, plus Car Fax came back clean. Sometimes you have to accept responsibility for your decisions. The best thing for Shane Fausel to do is never buy ANYTHING again, that way he will never have to accept responsibility for his decisions. Signed, A Party who knows the other side."

Well, lets disect this customer friendly retort:

1. The car was represented in "Excellent Condition" it was far from that. You might want to look up in KBB what "excellent" condition is.

2. The car was never owned by John Travolta. If it was I wonder what he thought of driving a salvaged Viper that the owner was unfortunately killed in.

3. If he had no knowledge of the cars history, why then does he know there were 4-5 previous owners with John Travolta being one of them? Why was Doug Page aware of a mileage discrepency on the car prior to its sale?

4. Car Fax is NOT a legal document. They have a stipulation that if they are wrong they will pay you 10% of the wholesale value of the car. They paid me 10% of the wholesale value. Plus, the Car Fax did have a mileage discrepency warning on it and you just stated that Doug had in fact pulled a Car Fax on the car meaning he had knowledge of the mileage discrepency and potential problems.

5. "Sometimes you have to accept responsibility for your decisions" Yes you do! Especially when you willingly take someones money for a product that is misrepresented.

6."Is that the fault of Doug Page and Specialty Cars Inc.?" Yes, he is a car dealer. He sold me the car. I found out about it. He has my money. Any questions?

7. Bill Pemberton and Woodhouse, I apologize to you because when this was all over I was going to buy a Good Viper from you but this representative of Specialty Cars is telling me "I should never buy ANYTHING again". I wonder if this goes for food too?

8. "Signed, a party who knows the other side" Lets see...it was signed Viperpage???????

I guess I just don't get it.A lot race cars(road and oval)are frame damaged during use.Winston included.Cut out the bad parts, weld in straight parts.Absolutely nothing wrong with a car that it has been done to if done correctly and is straight.Takes time patience and skill. If done right it will likely be straighter than a factory car.I would not dismiss all so caled totals.Very possile to have a straight car built up out of 2 or more cars at a bargain. You can get a salvaged car at a bargain when you know it is salvaged. The problem here is it was sold as a clean car for retail. You are aware of the difference in what a Viper with a salvaged title is worth vs. one with a clean title. That is the problem here.

I was reading through the threads and noticed quite a bit of discussion surrounding "rebuilt" title status. I've been following an opportunity on a 99 RT/10 with a rebuilt title. I have before and after pictures that complete the story as well as many conversations with the owner on the history. As the details have been fully disclosed, I was headed down the path to purchase until my better half ask the question, "what does a rebuilt title mean to the buyer and what will it mean at resell time" I explained the details, she's seems OK with the title status, but feels the price is too high based on the "rebuilt" status. According to Edmunds.com, dealer retail price is 52K. Based on previous discussion threads, you should subtract 10-12K from that price. Can anyone tell me what the price should be...or add to the discussion in anyway.
