As many of you may recall, Whiteman Air Force Base has again asked several car clubs to join them for the Wings Over Whiteman Air Show this weekend in Knob Noster, Missouri. Participants will parade in front of the military brass for inspection and then "stand at attention" for the National Anthem while parked by the B-2 Stealth Bombers stationed at Whiteman. Then we head to the tarmac and park next to the jets for the air show itself.

But here is the kicker: The Air Force just sent me the confirmed number of vehicles for each of the clubs invited this year (all had to pre-register for security clearance purposes). The numbers? Drum roll please...

AC Cobra Club.........................11
Assc Car Clubs of KC..................1
BMW of KC...............................3
Camaro Club of KC.....................0
Chrysler/Ford of Wburg...............0
Classic Thunderbird....................0
Ferrari Club...............................0
Genuine Chevy-GMC Trucks.........0
Harleys - Sedalia.......................0
High Per Auto of KC....................0
Jaguar Club...............................0
KC Arrowheads Pontiac Club.........1
Corvette Club of KC..................19
KC PT Cruiser Club.....................8
Korrupt Kustomz........................0
Miata Club................................9
Mid America Mustangs................0
Military Vehicles of JC................0
Military Vehicles of KC................0
Model A Club............................5
Porsche Club............................7
Royal 10 Street Rod...................9
Street Rodders..........................0
Touch of Glass Corvettes............0
Twisted Addiction......................1
Warrensburg Classic Wheels........15
Viper Club of Kansas City.........37

Yep, thirty-seven - how about THAT! The one model that probably has the least amount of cars produced (the Cobra club is almost all reproduction/kit cars) has the highest number of participants - by a WIDE margin. I think that says a lot about the owners and the car itself. Truly an awesome display of civilian American muscle matched up with American military muscle. The Vipers definitely look good next to our air warriors!

I'm also sure the crowd would rather see Vipers, than most of the other auto choices. IMO

I'd love to go myself.

Here is a pic of the Vipers during the air show in 2003:

And I don't have a high-rez shot of the GTS handy, but did find one of the SRT (right click and "save as" if you want to download it):

And for you RT/10 and/or Steel Gray fans:

High-rez version of that picture:

I will work on a high-rez shot of the GTS in front of the Stealth Bomber and hope you enjoy!

Chris,

Those numbers are startling! Very funny as I scrolled down the page gradually.

Thanks,

Chris-Do you have a schedule of when the air show starts? I might have to come bug you guys and see if I can still take pictures of Vipers.

Wish I could go. What about an invite for your Illinois neighbors next time? I bet some of us from Illinois would be glad to bring some Vipers.

Chris,
Thats a great number of committed Viper owners! Are you sure somebody didn't tell the KCR VCA that there would be free beer?

(What!? There's no "Cheers" graemlin???)

Actually, I begged for people to come join us from as many regions as possible. Posted invites on the boards (updated previous threads) over a month ago:

Click here for the GTS-RT/10 Forums post

And here for the post in the SRT forums

Sorry I didn't start new threads, but it seemed kinda lame to rehash it every year. Still, we have folks coming from Texas, Illinois, Arkansas, Mississippi, Kansas, & Missouri this time around. If you don't have plans and want to get in at the last minute, drop me an e-mail ([email protected]) or a PM and we will get you in with the rest of the Vipers. Love to have you join us!
