A week after buying my 99 GTS, I lost a left rear on the D.C. capitol beltway at midnight after a day running in Va with the club. Not a lot of fun, rain, etc. I think I hit something, but always wondered if pressure was also a factor. I have gotten in the habit since to *always* do at least a visual on all 4, and bought a good pressure gauge and check rears almost every time out. The right tends to lose one PSI, and I like to make sure the rears are the same. Just like flying - *always* preflight. Your life rides on only *you* checking.

May want to consider a remote tire pressure monitor system ($249 at TireRack is best/cheapest I have found). It will be a no brainer for me when it is time for four new tires (installs easily in rim when tires are off).

Art, that sounds like something that belongs on a Vette!

Jon, get a good tire gauge for $20 and check them 15 minutes, or seek counseling.

Normal Driving-Visual every time you go for a ride. And Every time you need the need for speed.

Viper Days before your first run group, and after each run.

Normal Driving Street tires 32-35PSI cold
Track 35-38 hot

I use the Same PSI for Hoosiers.

I installed the SmarTire system (purchased from Jon B) and love it. Very accurate both in pressure and temp. Cost less than $100 to install and as a bonus had the tires swapped on the rims to even out wear. Highly recommend.
