Hi everyone. Five years ago, back when I was with the big oil company, JonB dubbed me Fuels & Lubes Geek of the Realm for answering questions posted on this forum. More recently (about when I slowed down posting here!) a couple of us have taken our know-how and initiated the lubricants and specialty fluids business division of Cosworth Inc, previously known as Cosworth Racing.
Being divested from Ford at the end of 2004 has allowed Cosworth to expand beyond racing and Ford engine parts. Cosworth now manufactures performance heads, manifolds, and pistons for Subaru, Mazda, and Mitsubishi and more parts are coming. Check them out at www.cosworth.com.
Our group is charged with growing Cosworth in the lubricants and specialty fluids market using our technical expertise, not by rebranding another product or licensing the name. At the oil company we would hand off racing products to the teams we sponsored; at Cosworth we can work with the design engineers that develop the gasoline F1, methanol Champ Car, leaded gasoline Formula Atlantics, and the Caterham street cars. The lubricants developed and used in-house are the same as those you can now purchase. Obviously they’ll work well in a Viper! There is a whole lot to read at www.liquidcosworth.com.
The new combination is unique – other oil companies don’t manufacture performance engines and other engine manufacturers don’t formulate lubricants. And while the business is relatively new, the oil company sponsored teams using Cosworth engines, so the history is longer than the business venture. It’s an ideal position for a couple of Viper owners, where we can use our schooling, training, hobbies, and apply all our energy. By the way, there’s a sweepstakes to win a trip to the Cosworth facility in Torrance, California during the April 7-9 race weekend. Sign up and maybe I’ll meet you there.
PS: Feel free to keep asking about fuels and lubricants; as provided at the www.liquidcosworth.com site, we aren't holding anything back about what's in the bottle and how it works.
