Took the CAT\'S out and no code!!!???

A few days ago I took the cat's out but I'm not getting any code. Is this normal? I was ready to order sims.

Yes, it is normal. However, hold off on ordering the sims until you really need them. Who knows, the CE light may never come on for you.

No.My car ran fine from the get go.I have corsa,no cats,cdi headers and put the syms on immediately.No lights of course.Time will tell if you need them or not.Racey enough for you now?Some people are shocked at how loud it is. Bruce

My drivers side cat has been cut out, and strait pipe in. Doing pass side today. Rear muffler delete w/ crossover pipe. yeah baby yeah!

For those of you running no cats, how is the smell in congested, stop and go traffic? That's the only reason I still have cats, but I've never been in a car without them.

There are potentially two separate conditions, or lights, involved here. One is the cat inefficiency code which the sims should take care of(did for me). I believe it basically shunts out the rear 02s The other is the front 02 heater code which the sims won't take care of. Most of the newer cars will set the 02 heater code with aftermarket headers.

What code did you set?

Smell? You shouldn't smell Anything, unless you have a side-pipe car! If there are no leaks in the system, a no-cat system is going to smell like a cat-system. Ever been in an old muscle car? Same deal.. might have a hint of richness to it, but it's not going to flood the cabin unless you have a serious leak or are dumping right out of the manifolds.

Justyn, who's sims are you using? I tried three sets from two different tuners with no luck. I finally broke down and bought the sims from APEX (Bill Kaiser) and they work great!

Like Steve said, depending on what codes were set, it may not be the sims. If they are codes related to the rear sims and you haven't tried the APEX sims, you might wanna give them a whirl but before you spend the money, find out what codes have been set.
