George and I have also been talking and we think we could make this a fun event and possibly even work it into a Regional VCA get together.
The key component for the track event would be if we want to do it with just Viper owners , or if we want to do it in conjunction with another Club???
The track itself is phenomenal at around 2.2 miles long, lots of run-off and some mild elevation changes, along with some deceptive turns that are slightly banked , but few drivers have realized -- makes for really quick exits. The track also has what are called " Track Condos, " which have a garage below and a livable room upstairs , with balcony for viewing and staying overnight. Some of them are for rent by the owners.
At the last turn , right before the front straight is the " Corner Club," and this is really a Club, where after a hard day of racing, one can wander over a quaff a few brews, or a little Captain and coke , or...............................................
The paddock area is large with hook ups for Motor Homes and almost all the track is visible from the front straight. The town is super supportive of the track and accomodations are plentiful and very reasonable. Mark Jorgensen and I both instruct at this track and it is a favorite of mine --- technical and fairly fast , with some interesting twists due to the layout. The track manager/owner , George Anderson, is about a gung ** an owner as you will find anywhere in the US.
They also have a slug of go-karts out there, so we could even have a day where groups ran against each other or the clock with the karts --- mini races or time trials for extra craziness.
Obviously this would be great for the Club Members out of KC Region, Colorado Region, etc. , but it would not be a bad drive for those down in Mid South, Oklahoma, St. Louis and even Minnesota, etc. There would be no set Regional invites, but the track is fairly close to these folks and just using that as an example.
Glad Fursty is gauging the interest and post on this thread your comments and interest!!!!
