The service manual recommends Dexron III. It specifically states not to use Dexron II or Mercon automatic tranny fluid. However, the only thing I can find is called Dexron III/Mercon automatic tranny fluid. Is this stuff ok to use?

No, don't use the DEXTRON at all. Use the synthetic. If your car is a '98 (user name), it shouldn't have a DEXTRON label. If it is an early car, use the synthetic anyway. The ONLY reason the ATF would be better is if it's a 100 point show car and you want originality.dj

Castrol has one called SynTec Full Synthetic Dexron III/Mercon. Is this the best one? I couldn't find one called SynTorq.

I bought my upgrade synthetic fluid at the Dodge dealer, in a Mopar bottle. Maybe I paid a little more, but I knew for sure that it was right. There is a TSB on that which will tell you, (if memory serves me) the Mopar part number for the fluid. A Dodge dealer should be able to help.

DC and GM use the same fluid but I have found that GM sells it cheaper. I have the info at home (I'm at work) and if you want the part #s E-mail me and I'll find it for you.
