Looks like going for a weekend drive is out...

So the weather forecasters predict doom and gloom for last weekend: 1/2" of freezing rain turning to ice, followed by 6-8" of snow. What did we get? A 1/4" of slush and that was it. Kids pissed that the anticipated Monday school closings weren't even a remote possibility. Weathermen (and women) offer half-hearted apologies for being so far off. On Wednesday these same weather personnel predict a "slight dusting with no more than an inch of snow" for Thursday. Here it is about four hours before it even started to slow down:

One "man on the street" interview had some guy saying this about our local forecasters, "They are the only people who get paid to lie on the job." Of course he forgot about politicians, but we will forgive him for that. ;) The good news is that if you wanted to go shopping or out to eat, you pretty much had all the places to yourself:

Remember that Kansas City is towards the southern end of the snow belt. This single snowfall was more than we had the last few years combined and the heaviest in over ten years (10" here). And don't get me wrong, I felt bad for the weather forecasters - all except the head weather guy on Channel 4 who tried to BS his way through their screwup. Fortunately, one of his daytime weather guys had a much better sense of humor about it. He said, "Hey, if you combine our forecasts for this past weekend and today, divide it by two - we were perfect!" I know that it is not an exact science by any means, but this was pretty laughable.

And I'll be damned if those kids didn't get both Thursday and Friday off from school...

Nice pictures! Especially the one of your Viper! :2tu:

I have to admit that I miss the snow and cold now and again. I haven't had a Chicago Winter in 10 years! :(

Welcome. That is about what we got a few weeks ago. It will be a long time before the snakes come out of hibernation!

why couldn't a snow job be a GREAT THING? My black recalled SRT wears the same frown. I might as well drive in the snow to get started. Still needs safety mods(rollbar etc) and would like to thrash for V-10s/VOI8.

Dear Chris ,

Just wanted to cheer you up, as just a meer 250 miles North of you sits , Woodhouse, new home for Santa and his Elves ---------- we have about 31 inches on the ground and don't fret, all the Vipers are safe and sound in the Snake Pit. Interesting February for the Midwest, and we are supposed to get more before the month is over. Thank God all of the Vipers have already been PDI'd, as we couldn't put them on the highway now!

Do you think if we all started our Vipers up at the same time the heat would melt all the snow -- can't hurt to try!!

96 GTS owners manual page 63...
"Do not use tire chains on your Viper. There is no chain clearance and body damage will result from using tire chains" "There are no snow tires that are compatible with the wheels on your Viper"

What does the SRT manual say?? Maybe you're in luck!

Heat rises. We wouldn't melt the snow, just double the rate of global warming! Ahhhhh, 75 degrees in Detroit in February....doesn't sound so bad to me!

RELEASED. Picked up today. All recalls complete and ripped it on some dry spots(saw snow, but blew by it).

Then....after attaching hose to laundry tub to use warm water hose to wash and BBBAAAMMM.....a fckin kanicked rim on tire change... just talked @ this fckrfckrfckrfckr. with several fcknnn nick siblings. What was it? 2K/back rim? I guess by the time I start/finish zaino process/chemistry, the fumes will help.

The front bumper damage was from the truck transporters moving the truck from the rail yards to the dealers.
It is a dealer problem that has happened on quite a few of these trucks.
My red truck has 2 minor scrapes for the same reason.
