With new car sales at its lowest in history and forecasted even lower for 2008, one could definitely understand this drastic measure to help spark an increase in sales. The SRT vehicles are not included due to the fact that they simply won't or don't plan to produce enough of them to offset the cost.

I'm also quite sure this "Lifetime Powertrain Warranty" will include a couple more restrictions.

"The Lifetime Powertrain Limited Warranty applies to the original purchaser or retail lessee ONLY and is NOT transferable."

Vehicles not covered:
All Sprinter, Police, Taxi, Limousine, Postal, Ambulance, Ram Cab & Chassis [3500,4500,5500], SRT, Diesel equipped, Rental and Government vehicles are excluded from this coverage.

Right from the horses mouth [I think it came from that end?].:eater:

If they did SRT cars it just might be the end of Chrysler. It seems like there are a lot of Viper engines being replaced...:(

Where do you get these facts? :bonker: Chrysler 'car' sales were up 40+% in June compared with 2006 for the US and abroad. Truck sales are in a steep decline but car sales are the bright point for this company.

Please don't post when you have no idea what you are writing about.

Absolutely. Doesn't do them any good to extend this incentive to buyers of pre-owned vehicles. They need folks to buy new cars, not used ones.

define "A LOT"... most engibne replacements I've read about were from hard use (racing...track, drag, street) Under normal driving and the occasional track days, the Viper is rock solid.

5 year inspection is free. I totally dig this idea. I don't know how they'll pull it off but what a bold move. This is just what they need to pull off a comeback. It took them this long to realize that going from 7/70 to 3/36 in 06' just killed their sales. I wonder if the Challenger will come in a Hemi R/T package and be covered since it's not an SRT.

"General Motors could see U.S. June sales down almost a third from a year ago, the sharpest year-over-year drop at the embattled automaker since 2002, according to a forecast from Edmunds.com."

"Edmunds.com also forecasts that Ford's June sales will be down, 4 percent from a year earlier. Sales at Chrysler, the North American unit of DaimlerChrysler (Charts), are forecast to be down 7 percent."

Read the post, idiot. It says "new car sales" not Chrysler car sales. You obviously have no idea of what the word "comprehend" means.

Great time to commit to a lifetime warranty ... heck, the new company ownership group will have to manage it anyway ... wooohooo

Hey Dodge, how about some other parting goodies too? Free lifetime gas? :D

Wouldn't it be easier to list the vehicles covered?

On another note, is Dodge making gas powered Sprinters yet? I have to add another van to our fleet and I will not buy a diesel.

You should read your original post "new car sales at its lowest point in history..." Your right, you win, I'm an idiot. Thanks for setting us all straight.

I personally know 5 local Viper owners. Out of the 5 (2003 or newer) 2 have had engines and 2 have had transmissions. Non are raced. I looked through the forum and noticed many Vipers and SRT-10 trucks that are getting engines replaced or rebuilt. It seems like a lot to me.....

And, here the other way around....know of local SRT owners with no problems whatsoever, we've had our Viper since end of '04...no probs....remember, these cars are all hand-made, the possibility of mistakes rises therefore....too bad there are those ones that had engine or tranny problems...hopefully they were covered under warranty.
