Get your deposits in to Skip Thomas early, as the new track near Glenwood , Iowa ( south of Omaha, Ne. about 15 minutes ) will become an instant favorite. Tons of runoff, 15 turns on a 2.23 mile track, and it is WWWWWWWIDE !!! Some of us had a chance to drive around the course yesterday prior to the laying of the the last 2 inch topcoat today. Viper Days will have an event here in May ( host hotel right next to the AmeriStar Casino and only 15 minutes to the track ) and this track should make it a sell-out.
Though we couldn't go at speed, there appear to be 4 spots that need 4th gear in a Snake, with a guesstimate of 135-145mph down the front straight. Times should be very similar to Mid-Ohio , but the track is built with so much runoff , it appears to have that extra safety margin like alot of tracks in the West. For the Viper Racing League folks, there appear to be 5 strong spots for passing, and the carousel is much wider than the rest of the tracks 40 ft. width, so it will be a passing area also. View the website , as this is one amazing course.

PS - Trying to keep my enthusiasm down, but I actually think this safe, fast, wide, track will become a favorite immediately -- it is to me , already.

I see that Allen Wilson also designed this track. He did a great job at GingerMan so I believe this one will be as challenging.

Rich,

Take Gingerman and add an extra gear, as there are at least 3 spots where Vipers will hit 4th. Challenging like Gingerman , with the speed of Mid-Ohio. Hope we get you and alot of the guys from the Illinois Region to come down.

According to Bob, when you cannot find Bill now, all you need to do is head to the track.

Hmmmmmmm, I have been found out, but gee is that a Red GTS in front of a Ferrari 355? Of course, Snakes scare Horses, whadda think is making them prance around. The track guys put a couple of photos of the Viper on the their photo page and it's nice to see that under the HiPo grouping ( for clubs ) they use the GTS , again, to show folks what will be at the track, leading the Vettes, Ferraris, etc. We had 7 Vipers show up at the track, so we had a nice showing, and actually had more marque cars there except for Mustangs, which had 8-9 drivers participating.

Dear Mr. Snell,

Keep in mind you can stay right next to the Casino when you come to Viper Days in May, annnnnnnd, RUMORS are that Bobby Woodchuck will be providing "BUSES WITH BOOZE" for the drive up to the Dealership for the Saturday Banquet. That way Sir Woodchuck is your designated driver........... whoops, now I have frightened you, ha. Actually, we will probably have a professional bus driver with the lovely Nancy Stein, Janni Cone, Rhonda Johnson, and the sequined Jason Walsh as hostesses. Not a sexist thing, it's just the fact that we have some very attractive, brilliant, fast ladies, that don't take any flak off of the male drivers and I figure they can control a rowdy crowd.

PS - Bring some of that fine " Montana Angus Beef" for hors de vours!!!
