Just got my GTS, went to open it up and the remote wouldn't work. On the back of the remote it says to hold both buttons down to reset-tried that, didn't work.

So I opened up the rear compartment and had a small kid in the parking lot crawl in the car and open it up.

Is there another way to use the key to enter the car if this happens again?

Does the remote eventually wear out?

thanks

the battery is probably dead/dieing in the remote i had that happen to me on my frist week getting the viper, its about the only way to get in, Open the hatch, and pull the emergency release handle, and then there is an alarm cut off inside the roof of the glovebox compartment to stop the alarm from blasting in your ears!

I know keep a spare battery for the remotein my wallet JUST IN CASE!

Next time pop the rear hatch. Standing on the drivers side of the car, reach your arm in between the gas strut that holds the rear window open and grab the emergency latch. No children required for this.

It is a shame people don't pass on the Viper Owners Training video tape that come with them when they are new.

At least you figured out a way to get in. LETHAL GTS posted the correct way to get in if the battery is dead or if the remote battery dies.

I imagine you didn't have the car locked with the remote, otherwise the alarm would have sounded when the kid opened the door from the inside. FYI, the alarm cut-off is in the storage compartment.

They really need to make a quick reference guide of common problems.

I've also had problems with the contacts in my remote. The battery is good but the electrical contact isn't making contact. I just had to pop open the remote and bend the contact a little. Put the remote back together and all is good.
