No, not auctioning off the members themselves, but a "VCA Members Only" set of auctions benefiting the Luke Air Force Base MWR Fund and supporting the VCA's activities during the upcoming Viper vs. Viper event at the base March 23-25. What is the MWR Fund? Here you go:
The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Program has been recognized as being essential for creating and maintaining the morale of military personnel. Services programs have long provided essential food, lodging and services for military members.
MWR programs were first introduced during the Revolutionary War. With the establishment of a huge "citizen" army during World War I, the United Services Organization (Inc.) was founded along with programs like library services, troop canteens and sports programs. In 1920, the Army Motion Picture Service was set up and was soon to be followed by the founding of service clubs later during World War II.
From the front line to the home front, the mission of the Luke Air Force Base Services MWR Fund (Morale, Welfare and Recreation) is to: "Provide exceptional combat readiness through quality of life and mission enhancing programs."
The MWR Fund is tasked with enhancing the Quality of Life of our troops and their families. Troops are able to concentrate on the "Mission" while they are deployed because they know Services is providing programs, services and events to their families; programs, services and events designed to enhance the quality of life of their loved ones.
