with the VEC1, I have my settings at +12 and -16. Should the LED lights be at any specific location at idle and normal driving? I turned my car on just to keep the engine going, i dont want to drive it and add to the alignment problems on the bumper, and i noticed that the last blue LED light was on, indicating it was extremely rich at idle. Im thinkin this cant be right and that i might have to recalibrate the low settings. Any thoughts?

At start-up you will definitely have a blue light. After about 1-2 minutes it should start to fluctuate between red and and orange/green. At least mine does. It seems the tuning doesn't effect the idle ratio as the computer immediately adjust for it.

When the engine is cold the VEC1 will run full rich for about a minute then the LEDs should start to do the light dance. The LEDs will continuously run accross the display as the PCM continuously adjusts the air/fuel timing.

Once you're fully warmed up put it in 4th or 5th gear and slow down to 20 MPH below the speed limit - do this when there is no other traffic around you - and go to wide open throttle until you are a little bit above the speed limit. Use one eye for driving and your other eye for watching the LED display. The right blue LED should be the light the stays on and not the left blue LED.

Adjust the heavy load dial on the VEC1 towards the -20 setting if only the far right blue LED lights up at wide open throttle. I had to go with the -20 setting on my 2002 GTS before I had the Roe Supercharger installed. Your PCM probably will do some learning of the VEC1, so you should repeat the wide open throttle adjustment proceedure every so often just to be sure that your settings are correct. (This last sentence is probably BS, but it's a good excuse to see how much better your Viper runs with the VEC1.)

I also found that adjusting the low load dial on the VEC1 towards the +20 will help part throttle drivability a whole lot. Just start off in 1st gear and adjust the VEC1 dial so there is no bog when starting off from a complete stop at a very light throttle pressure. I think I found the +16 setting worked best for me.

ok thanks guys. I just got this installed so i had no idea waht to think when looking at the light dance under normal driving conditions and that full rich indicator made me uneasy. Thanks for the info though.

SUN- did you track that thing yet? Very interested to see another 10 sec roe car!

It's not ready for a quarter mile run yet. The stock PCM puts it into an extreme lean condition at full throttle. The VEC2 will set things right again & I should have the VEC2 near the end of this month. I'd still have to wait until springtime to do my quarter mile - the roads in Ohio haven't warmed up enough to give decent traction and the tracks don't open until near April. You really need good roads at the right temperature for decent traction even with a slightly modded Viper to get a decent time for the quarter mile. And even more so with a Roe Supercharged Viper.

VEC2 -

It's what Sean Roe went to Sweden for. The supercharger manufacture is in Sweden and Sean did extensive testing on a Swedish Viper with the supercharger to come up with a great engine management system that should eliminate all the engine management issues the first run of his superchargers were having.

Details are here - http://vca1.viperclub.org/ubb/Forum14/HTML/016014.html

The VEC1 is perfect for non supercharged Vipers. It's one of my favorite mods. I think the VEC2 is only for Roe Supercharged Vipers at this point, but later Sean may have some programs for regular Vipers available for the VEC2.

You will be very happy with your VEC1. Once I get my VEC2, I plan to install my VEC1 on my Ram truck!
