VEC2 upgrade?

I would really like to have the AIT input in my tuning so I don't have to worry about changing temps and elevations. Here is Idaho we see a lot of both

So I thought that getting my VEC2 upgraded by Roe would add that ability. I talked to one of the sales guys there and he said there would be no benefit on my GTS and that the upgrade was only good for gen4 and Rams. He also thought that the AIT input would not work on a gen2 anyway.

So in order to get the AIT function I have to upgrade to a VEC3?

They will upgrade your VEC2 to a VEC3 for something like $100. the new one does have the AIT function. You don't get the USB port though.

I'm not sure why they said that? I upgraded my VEC2s in 4/07 and retuned our GENII cars. It works. I am basically tuned for one card for temps between 35 and 100F. Prior to that I had 3 cards 50/70/90. An upgraded VEC2 has VEC3 capabilities, but is not exactly the same for installing the software and getting your box settings right.

I don't think the $100 gets you a true VEC3. He said it only upgrades your VEC2 to the latest version.

The guy I talked to was not very helpful and didn't seem to be able to answer my questions. I think his name was Mike??
Who should I ask for to answer questions like this?

When I called a few months ago I was told the same thing. I think I talked to dave. He told me there was nothing the vec 3 could do for my car that the vec 2 with the latest firmware couldn't do. He said the advantages of the vec 3 could only be used on the newer models. I would like to have the AIT capabilities also.

I thought the new SRT-10 kits and the soon-to-be-revised Gen2 kits aren't even using the VEC, just the SCT Tuner.

I don't understand what's up with what you were told. I would definitely talk to Sean. The AIT feature works for me.......and is in an upgraded VEC2. I'm happy to share anything that might help you with it
