Mike,
I have sat and watch all the videos you posted on the board, and have a few questions - being the armchair quaterback, of course....
1.) Do you have a stock shift knob, or smaller MGW? If stock, the MGW know is a great upgrade. It will allow you to shift quicker, with more precision, IMO.
2.) What RPM are you shifting at? Maybe it's just the sound of the video, or the fact I have a louder aftermarket exhaust, but it seem your too low in the RPM band. Most people prefer 5700-6000 on a OEM Viper, at least I do.
3.) What's the deal with missing gears? 2nd to 5th seems very hard to do, unless intentional. Remember, you really don't have to push the shifter to the right when going into 3rd. Just thrust that bad boy straight up, and it should automatically move slightly to the right.
4.) Practice those launches. I prefer to tach up around 2000 RPM or so, and modulate the clutch to prevent excessive wheel spin (with 3.07 gears). With stock gears, it is easy to bog out of the hole (Too low RPM), and too much RPM will induce massive wheel spin. Just takes practice. I actually found it much easier to launch with 3.73 gears. Just rev just about idle, ease out clutch, and stomp on it!!! No bog with the 3.73's. Take off like a rocket, with little wheel spin.
** The Viper is a monster on the street. It has HUGE rubber, and hooks up well (Street). Personally, I think with proper shifting/launching, most of these cars would not have presented any challenge. Remember, you not only representing yourself, but the whole Viper nation. So go out there and kick some ****!!!!!
