I have an 03 SRT-10 Red Vert. Currently it has the stock hood with center painted matte black as shown in 1st photo. The 2nd photo is of my New VIPAIR 08 louvered hood.

Debating whether to paint new hood with the same paint scheme or paint it all red. I'm going for the agressive look that stands out. New hood already looks mean but will that center painted black be over the top on new Vipair Hood? Your opinions greatly appreciated.

I've attached a couple additional photos to show the whole car for a better judgement and also note that I have painted the rear bumper center matte black as well. I look foward to your responses. Pics would be nice too if you have some :)

Id do the same thing to the new hood. It looks good on the current one and it isn't even close to the aggressive look that the '08 hood is. I say stick with the same scheme. Btw, I really like that you painted the lower section of the rear fascia. I think Dodge should have done this to every SRT Viper from day one whether it had stripes or not. It just makes the rear look much more aggressive. The vert especially needs this treatment.

Post pics of the finished product. Would really like to see it when it's all done.

Anyone who keeps there new hood in the living room is my kind of person.

First I want to say that the hood and rear fascia in black looks really great. The rear fascia painted black and with the black top gives the car a balanced look.

I have a red 03 with black center wheels and red rims and I just added an OEM 08 hood. Been thinking about painting the center section of the hood and the rear fascia in satin black. Its great that now I can see how it might look.

For me I would paint the center raised section, just the top, not down the sides of the raised section. Then about 1/4 inch from the black center section I would run a 1/8 inch pin stripe down the both sides of the black center secttion. Get a look at a 1967 corvette big block hood and you will see that the pin stripe adds to the look.

I worry that the edge of the black paint would catch wax but clear coating the complete hood, to avoid the edge, would make the black glossy.

I also want to replace the side and rear red emblems with black emblems as in the picture in post #3.

Question, did you paint the hood and rear fascia yourself ?

I'm thinking I can do it if I can get over the edge thing.

I would like to see your finished hood no matter what you choose to do.

I went the '08 OEM route also, with no option of Carbon Fiber. I left mine solid Red, but do plan to black out the rear vallance and badging :headbang: I couldn't tell buy the picture......but don't worry, I believe Andy also had to return his fiberglass one to go CF. :D

If you use the same paint scheme (black center), it won't be over the top at all. Indeed, when painting it and doing the sides of center bump it will actually make it look a little less aggressive. Why? While the height is one thing, the hard edges of the Gen IV vs. the curves of the Gen III hood are a big part of the look. When painting them a solid color (black) vs. the rest of the hood it will "blend" those edges and pull back on the aggressive look a little. Still a GREAT look! :2tu:

Car looks awesome already, and I plan on painting the rear section a's well like you did.

I would paint the raised section in black and carry the stripe onto the trunk lid also. Atleast do it on the hood, it will look great!

Steves selling some hoods! Great to see I know he's got some other great stuff in the works a's well.

Looks very nice Cubican. The ALL red looks very nice I'm 60/40 leaning towards black center but I have not seen it done yet on the 08 Vipair hood for Red SRT Vert.

Does anyone have photos of what this would look like or can do some photo shop of Red Vert maybe Cubican's car with black center? Thanks

Has anybody seen the new Callaway Corvette? I'm concerned that my hood paint scheme idea will look too similar to this new Corvette. I prefer not to have people mix up my Viper with a Vette. Was thinking about going with my 2nd option which is stripes instead? 2nd photo in link below shows red vert callaway vette. Any opinions?

I really don't think you have anything to worry about. Anyone that would mistake your Viper for a Callaway Corvette is an idiot. That hood is hideous!

That Callaway Vette hood is terrible. Is that a compartment to store your Callaway golf clubs or something?:omg: Or do you get a new set of clubs for taking that ugly thing off their hands? :D

Don't worry, the only thing that could be confused with that hood would be some poorly customized ricer car hood.

Too me, dual stripes (or driver's side scheme) just screams Viper :2tu: Though the Gen IV wider dual stripes might look better on the 08'/Vipair hood.

I couldn't find a pic of the dual stripes on a Vipair or 08' OEM hood, but here are a couple on a Gen III OEM hood.
