I ended up paying only $200 more per year for insurance on my 97 GTS versus a 93 RX-7. Some insurance companies charge the high amounts on certain car types so that they don't have to insure them or so that anyone insured by them has to pay exhorbitant amounts.

What a coincidence. I just called Grundy and they are insuring both my Vipers at 50K each for $1,441/yr. No mileage limit. Sounds too good to be true. I'm waiting for the application packet.

I pay about $4,000 per year for my 99 through Progressive. What an ass whipping! Hopefully Grundy will pick me up. They quoted me $800 or so to cover me for $60k.

Do you have a number for Grundy???????

800 338 4005

They said it was comp. They wanted to know if they were garage kept. I insured for 50K each car. They wouldn't insure my truck. No matter, it's just getting PIP.

I have progressive and pay $3600 per year total for my three cars.
If I remember correctly it was $1600 per year for the Viper.
This is for my wife and myself with $100k/$300K per accident and am 37 yrs old with a perfect driving record.
Florida is a "no fault" state and insurance is a little higher. I also live in Palm Beach County and has one of the higher rates in the state.

Be sure to read the fine print on the Grundy insurance. I want to drive my car and Grundy has WAY to many limitations

Hell I'm only 27 and pay $1200 a year through State Farm. That news artical was way wrong about most expensive vehicle to insure. Sport Bikes are hands down the most expence high production vehicle. For what it cost to insure most bikes you could practially buy a new one ever 2 or 3 years.

Everytime I see posts like this it amazes me what you guys consider expensive insurance :p .............When I had my Q45, full coverage was almost 5k for the one car  . No points on liscense. My only crime at the time was being a male under 30 :smirk:

I have an insurance broker, pay 1200 year for full coverage.
He insured it like a 40k auto, didn't matter what it was.
He shops around every 2 years or so and finds the deals, some are with "brand" companys. You have to switch every few years, they just keep raising the rates till ya get diff. co. Over the years I've been back to the same co. with lower rates, saved alot of money that way.

Living in Brooklyn may have had a bit to do with it.

Grundy

Grundy has way to many limitations. Yes they do give great rates but that is because it is collectors car insurance which in this companies case does not allow you to drive the car where you want. I was going to go with them until I found out that the car is not allowed to be parked anywhere unless it is at an event. Pretty much stinks if I want to go out one night.

Re: Grundy

I am only paying 313 more for my 02 than I was for my BMW 540i. I pay about 3200 a year for 4 cars and a 21 year old daughter on the policy.

Re: Grundy

If you get Grundy, don't complain if your car gets stolen from anywhere except your garage or the car show you brought it to and they won't pay. They are collector car insurance, not meant for regularly driven cars.

Living in Brooklyn may have had a bit to do with it.

It has everything to do with it. Theft and insurance fraud are two things that Brooklyn excels at :( ...2003 has been a hell of a year for me..Got the Q and the C5 stolen last year  . Liability on the Q only :( ... Thats why we have the highest insurance rates on the east..No more nice cars for now...Ive made up my mind Im gonna head south hopefully in the next year....Seems you guys got the good life down there......

I pay about $700 per year for my '95 Viper. That's about $300 less than my 2001 WS6 Trans Am and my '02 Z06 was about $1100 per year. State Farm seems to go by year more than anything else.

Yeah... I am with progressive... they are going this next time around... screw 'em. Just for the hell of it, I ran another quote on myself through the computer, same things as I have now, and was quoted 400 a year less. Obviously, a bait-and-switch.

Anyone have any experience with All-State? (as in if they ACTUALLY handle claims? Progressive is good about it from what I have seen (my sister and her truck), but I dont know if they are worth the money.

Will Geico even look at a Viper?
