Did they say the total price would be $25k? I don't see how they could make much selling it for that. It's not even done yet and I think they said that would be the finished price. If they did a good job and made it look nice, inside and out, I can see someone buying it for $25k. Not me, I wouldn't buy it, but I've seen lot's worse hot rods running around that cost way more. Most people would think it was a Viper. It could be lot's of fun for lot's less, about 1/3, than a real low bucks used one. Come on guys, there are folks out there who can't afford a real one even used.

One upside to the SRT is that, due to its more conservative aesthetic, it's unlikely that it will be "duplicated" as replicar.

Well duh... why would anyone want to replicate a replica of an S2000? ****, I wonder why anyone would want to replicate a S2k in the first place......

Honestly, I think that's the closest replica I've ever seen. The only thing I see wrong with it is the rear sail panels (or whatever we call them) are a little bigger than they should be. Other than that, it's dead-on.

But here's the thing...why would you buy that when you can get a real GENI for only 5 or 6K more? The kit car is going to have virtually no resale value and certainly isn't going to be as fast unless you do some mods. Then there's the problem of getting it registered and insured. A friend of mine had a kit car a while back and couldn't find a company that would even CONSIDER insuring it in Virginia. Then there's the emissions question. If it has to be registered as a custom-made vehicle, who knows what impact that has on the emisssions and safety certification process.

I like the idea of kit cars and replicas of cars you can't buy any more (e.g. Shelby Cobra) but I'm afraid the government is legislating that business out of existence.

it's not a Viper today, won't be one tommorow. Pay a dollar, pay $100,000.00 and it's still not a Viper, Never will be anything more than a joke on 4 wheels.
