I am considering a 97 gts with k+n, smooth tubes, 3:54 rear, aluminum flywheel, borla headers and cat back system, also has a svs short throw shifter. The car has a 7/75000 and expires 8/04.I will be the third owner. Will these mods affect any engine, or trans warranties? Is the warranty transfersble to me? I also think that a short throw shifter is ******* the tranny forks, and will void the warranty???

Thanks, Dave

Those mods should not affect engine or tranny warranty -- at the right dealer. Some dealers play things a little too "by the book" and can be a pain. Your local VCA region should be able to point you to a Viper-friendly dealer for service.

Make sure the car you are buying has a transferable warranty. Most warranties are transferable only once. If the first owner bought the warranty, you're going to be out of luck. If you buy that car from an individual, you cannot go to Dodge and buy a warranty. If you buy that car from a Dodge dealer, he can sell you a warranty at the time of purchase.
