"This car was purchased brand new by a retail customer from a new Dodge dealer. The vehicle was repurchased by Daimler Chrysler because of a problem in the window seal. The seal was repaired by Daimler Chrysler and then the vehicle was purchased by Mason Motors Dodge(me). This vehicle has been tested by the factory and the dealer and the situation was fully corrected. The factory is providing a 12 month/unlimited mile warranty to the next owner."

for some reason that doesn't seem like a reason to re-purchase the whole car.......odd

Makes you wonder why DC didn't help/make the dealer correct the problem before
it got blown out of proportion. It could be that the dealer had a problem
that was more expensive to fix as compared to what they would be compensated from DC or
it could be that they were just incompetent. But in the end, the dealer and DC
both lost. Lucky you.

The problem is depending where you live, your viper tech skills and talent may be close to nothing at all. So if the dealer attempted to repair it a few times and window still leaked, then the owner could file for arbitration or lemon law against DC.

I went through over a year ago. Basically if the dealer does not fix (whatever the problem is) in a certain number of attempts or time frame, the manufacture will be forced to purchase the car back buy arbitration or courts.

for a leaky window???? I would pull the service history off the vin at local dealer, then call remote dealer where repairs were done and have them fax over the complete detailed repair history.

Actually, the lemon law (at least in NC) states that the car has to have a flaw that is a major mechanical flaw, dangerous, or will severely impact the value of the vehicle (i.e. paint issues) so IMO there would be no buyback for a faulty window seal. Also, whenever there is arbitration or anythign else in a buyback case, D-C will get one last attempt to fix and will have the car brought to a competent dealer and have a Zone service advisor involved. In all of those cases, the repair could be made.

You are NOT getting the whole story.

Muffy! Did I just see a DRIP of water enter my car and get wetness on my loafers? How DARE they! OKOK saounds better with a strong Brittish accent, but this whole thing has to be a joke. A judge wouldn't listen to a case like this, would they?

3 out of 4 vipers I had looked at had torn window seals. They all had torn at the top. It appears the windows goes higher that the rubber trim can handle. I would have them print you a service history report so that you have a better idea about any other problems the car has had.

I'm on my second replacement for the passenger side.

The dealer said it was a "fluke", and I couldn't find anything on the VCA website --- 'till now.

At $300 each, I'm wondering if this is a "problem"?
