>>So how was it? How did you guys do?
BTR? Had nitrous activation switch problems. Made 2-3 runs, one without nitrous the others with. Won 2 trophies best ET or MPH for street tires can't remember exactly.
MES? mostly 12.4-12.5's my best was 12.43 made 4 runs
DLM? Had some clutch problems making too much HP for the clutch. Ran 2(?) times one mid 12 which I seen. He had lots of blue smoke all the way down the track and the other time I don't know what he ran.
Fikse? no show? or at least I can't put a face to the name

Scott from NC was here with his sweet looking black GTS supercharged/nitrous DLM car. Ran in 11's (I think) and he also won a trophy for best MPH or ET can't remember. Him and Tom were real close on ET&MPH

A total of 8-10 Vipers showed up. There was a black RT/10 which ran 12.11 STOCK and received a trophy for that, it was a great run. There was also a silver RT/10 which was running high 11's@125ish. Everyone else was low-mid 12's many 12.5's and a few 12.1's these were cars with headers, exhaust, tubes, filters.

It was in the mid 80's high humidity, cloudy all day long with very little sun. No rain while at the track but as soon as I left and started home 2:30-3:00 it started raining.

Well all of this is from memory so some is not 100% accurate. But we all had a good time and took our cars home in the same condition we drove them to Moroso, no major broken/damaged parts to speak of.

Not much to talk about in the way of speed. We did have a great time and I got to put a few usernames with their faces. Very nice people indeed.

There were 3 classes. STOCK, Street Tire(must be factory tires), and Unlimited. We wanted to race in both the street tire, and unlimited(king of the hill) classes.

Here is a recap of our runs----run,

First run off of the trailer was an 11.04 at 132.4 on Pilots. A typical warm up pass to feel out the track....which was unprepped but held somewhat. Came back around and launched harder (1.85 60') and the NOS solenoids did not engage, just fuel enrichment. After a short troubleshooting session it proved to be a failure of the WOT switch(a $5.00 part) of which I did not have a spare. The switch continued to send bogus TPS signals to the computer keeping us from achieving actual WOT so we packed up and watched the rest of the day. Never got to mount our slicks.

That one run held up for the quickest e.t. on street tires even though it was far from my personal best. I believe that the quickest run of the day in unlimited was 10.79 and Im not sure of the MPH on that pass, and Im sorry but I can't remember the gentlemans name. He had a very clean silver GTS with mods including NOS.

Thanks to Doug Levin for the hospitality and Trophys for all classes. He should get the "hard luck" award. He did beat a Pantera that was in attendance for the FORD event that was going on......and I have it on video!

Scott P., im looking forward to this coming weekend in orlando as we go on the Supra Hunt, Speedworld dragway TT friday nite then on to Gandy Saturday.

MES, good to meet you in person, you too! FL Johnny.

I hope everyone made it home OK, and I look forward to coming down again.........even if I seem JINXED at that track.(my 8 second dart never hooks there, I spun out my viper on their roadcoarse, been kicked out of tech twice, and had a switch fail that has worked perfectly for over 2 years!)

I'm really sorry I didn't go too. I'm all stock but I would have had fun. No excuses.

I'll keep Saturday "Gandy" open. Park your trailers in the Mission Bell parking lot on Dale Mabry and Fletcher. There will be a car show going on and they will **** bricks when you guys roll in.

Thank you to Doug Levin for a very non-confrontational event.
Everyone seemed to be on their best behavior. I was most impressed with the BTR car running 11.04 on street tires. For me
driving it prepped the same way for racing it is the way to go.
Maybe with some better tires I could have gotten a little quicker(11.50 @ 128mph). To our Texas brethren we are not the enemy the Corvette,
Mustang & Others are. Congratulations on getting us closer to beating them. I truly do wish I could have been there also.

Now you know that Morosso is the WORST sea level track in the country.
All I see is stock GTS's run high 12's at 115 mph 90% of the time here.
So no surprises there.
BUT, I have also seen Doug Levin Viper in that same SLOW track pull a 10.0 at 150 mph... Imagine what that thing would run in Texas.....

Stanly I know what car your talking about and when I guy decides he wants to tune his own car and put nitrous on top of that stuff can break and will break. You only know of 1 car that had a problem that wasn't completely fixed to the customers satisfaction and thats your so called best friend.I don't know the specifics of their arrangement but I do know all the other individuals who had blowers installed, and they all are running fine and making big numbers on the dyno and have been able to back them up at the track. If your best buddy was so unhappy why didn't he state it on the board and why are you his mouthpiece?
And Scott my blower was the first one and has been trouble free for 2 years.Oh yeah Stanley how is your blower car running? or let me guess you don't have one.And both of you guys are talking about the same car.

So if ANYONE would like to see AT LEAST ONE OF HEFFNERS cars, please give Doug Levin a call. I tried to ask DLM what was up with the car but he would not comment.

So, let's get this straight: it's your best friends car and you have to ask Doug Levin what's up with it? Stan, is your imagination getting the best of you again?

Stanly you seem to be upset with Heffner, did you have a bad experience with him or something? I wasn't saying anything about Levins work or him personally, what I was saying is his customers talk about all this UNREAL power and I mean literally UNREAL. I here how awesome their cars are and then they go to the track and run stock viper times that just doesn't impress me and makes me wonder why all this a** kissin, and now your making comments about someone elses so called problems bragging about someone who hasn't fixed them.

I was amazed to see any Vipers show at Moroso after enduring two weeks of constant rain from tropical storms. But our friends showed!

We didn't break any records but we did have fun! I was proud of all that participated or even just came to watch. I hope to have another race date soon for Vipers...

Regards,
Doug

For all those horsepower claims made all year long and how happy everyone is with their cars and their mechanics, I don't know how anybody can be happy with those pathetic times and all those problems with those supposedly high horse cars this weekend at moroso. The guys in Texas are right those were the slow car nationals, if you guys want those vipers to run like there supposed to, send them on up to Jason Heffner in Maryland and let him get those cars right.A car like mine, that runs 10's in any weather on pump gas with radials everytime out with only about half the horse you guys claim to have. The bs and but kissing all year was too much for me to bite my tongue any more, and then to put up those numbers not to mention a call from a buddy of mine about that was there and told me how unhappy everyone was no matter what there saying on the board.

I understand about car problems. Our clutch went out first pass. We took the housing off and sprayed Dr. Pepper on it and got a 10.10 out of it before it it was totally wasted. I wish we had some sponsor or the ability to have some backup support.
