The ONLY time I every had to Dclutch in my young life (considering all the cars I've ever driven) was on one delivery of 47,000lbs of drywall (no I didn't dump it on the guys lawn) in a very old Kodiak. There is a lot of talk about using Dclutching for downshifting during AutoX (apparently to rev-match) but the reality is you will probably never have a need to do it. Its designed for old(er) vehicles that lacked the wonder of syncros in the transmission and the gears needed to be unhindered when spooling up or down. I've never heard of any other performance benefit. But I was wrong once before.
