With any luck, my car is on it's way to a new home on Thursday, so I'll be GTS shopping in a few days. Here is what I'm looking for:

• less than 50k miles; preferably less than 40k, but beggars can't be choosers
• 1999 ideally, but because of my budget I can't be picky. Pre-2000 would be ideal, but I love me a 'bee too
• prefer NOT red because there are 3 solid red GTSs I can think of already here in Austin, but again if it's clean and the right price I won't argue
• $30k-31k tops (yeah, I know...sad that GTSs are actually that low, but good cuz now I can afford one!)
• no salvage/rebuilt title, and preferably no accidents

Basically that means any clean car in any color from any year will work for me.

That said, please don't send along Ebay, Cars.com, VCA, Alley or Autotrader ads. I'm already watching them like a hawk and check them a few times a day. This is for those guys that are thinking "maybe I'd sell it if ..." then WHAM! Here I am.

If you're thinking about moving on to another project or just want rid of their GTS, I know this guy that wants one. Send me a PM or post up if you're game. Thanks in advance!

good luck with your search..im wishing almost that I waited a bit longer. I waited over a year and decided on a local buy...a 2000 solid red ACR (1 of 35) with 14k on the clock at 37000. Its amazing how many deals are out there now. It's like people are thinking these cars will not be worth anything in a few years. My guess is that people are going to kick themselves for not holding on to them..

That car made it's way onto Ebay last night for a little cheaper than that. I guess not many people dig the burgundy? :D

The stripes look burgundy in some pics and black in others. I don't like the way they start out narrow on the front and get wider as they go back.

Paint is really the cheapest thing to fix-especially stripes as a repaint. At these prices, overall condition to me would be more important as well as history. Think Viper for Honda Accord prices-who da thought?

good luck with that

exactly

any car in that range will have issues, or be (no offense) solid red or silver, 97/98). Prices are good right now, but they aint that good. A nice car, in a desirable color will bring above that, even at wholesale auction.

We'll see, naysayers :) Not all sellers and buyers subscribe to the Taximan/Bottlefed Blue Book Value, so maybe I'll get lucky. That's why it was a WISH list, and I said I'd settle for less because in an ideal world, that's what I want (but realize I may not get it).

I appreciate the well-wishing, though...thanks for contributing; the value you added to this thread is immeasurable!:2tu:

Exactly the reply I expected. Good luck with your search...

And please, direct me to where I can buy a nice,no stories GTS (with stripes, under 30k miles) for $30-31k. Because I will buy as many, as you can find.

I'm glad I didn't disappoint and fell for your trap! I'm a fool for you, Taximan!

All I'm saying is if you don't have something to contribute, then maybe you should second-guess hitting the "reply" button. If I'm smoking a handful of crack and daydreaming, is it your responsibility to ground me with your interpretation of the current Viper market? I appreciate the parental guidance, but this thread would be doing just fine without your "contributions".

Back on track: If you have a GTS and are thinking about selling it, shoot me a PM or post up. If you think I'm out of my mind, send me your email address and I'll send you pics of the new ride so you can mock me! :D

Sorry, I already bought a sub-15K mile ACR for that and I am keeping it :D

The nice cars for a great price are out there, just have patience Jason :2tu:

I found a decent amount of cars on the net fitting the criteria Jason mentions. I must apologize to Jason for mentioning the boards being a good idea to find someone that may have what he is looking for. It appears this inst actually what the boards are for.

When I bought my car I didn't do this and after my purchase several popped up fitting my needs, some with options I could of used that were within my budget. I bought a "no stories" 96 GTS in Dec 07 with 25k miles for 42k at the time that was below going price.

Just buy the damn car you found that fits all of the criteria, has a clean title, no stories oh and its within your budget wow. Good thing you didn't do your homework before you posted on the boards.

i will admit I wanted a perfect IMMACULATE stock car with an exhaust, and everything had something i didnt like...either an accident, something wrong with it, beat on, rock chips, etc. I found a perfect silver 98 gts which was exactly what I wanted and paid 34,500 for it.

Did you buy that off Craigslist? I saw that car advertised a few months ago. I grew up in the Royal Oak area btw. How's the car treating you? I bought my ACR from Classic Auto showplace in Troy mi about 2 months ago.

the car is great, i spent a while looking around and this car basically lived in a climate controlled warehouse since the person I bought it from was in the storage business (and doing very well at it too). I kind of regret paying as much as I did for it since i hear about all these deals all the time, but I do have a nice car with no stories and guess i should be happy for what I ended up with.

You get a chance to get your car to the drag or track? I'm thinking about heading to the strip this weekend to try out some new mods.

Don't expect people who own and still like their cars to be happy about a lucky few people who happen to find a needle in the haystack.

Not because someone gets a great deal but, because the rest of the selling community is somehow required to lower the value of their cars based on a few lucky buyers.

I for one would take off the rear hatch and haul sod with my low mile GTS before I would dump it for 30K.:D

Seriously though, enjoy the search and don't take it so personal. There are two sides to every coin.

Jeez, you could at least get a trailer and hitch like I did before you throw dirt in it. That might even up the value if you were in Texas.
