What bras are avalable for the front end to protect against stone chips??

I have seen clear 3m stuff available as well as leather bras, what are the pros and cons? Are other materials available? What is best?

Thanks!

Most will tell you that traditional vinyl/leather bras (on cars) cause as much damage as they prevent, not to mention they look like crap straight out of the 80's.

If you're worried about chips, go with the clear bra or just get the facia repainted at some point in the future.

Speed Lingerie Bra (speedlingerie.com) makes the best in my opinion. I have used one continuously for six years (25,000 miles). The bra is 100% felt lined to protect the paint beneath, no damage what so ever! The few times I was caught in the rain, I removed the bra, let it dry, vacuum any road dirt from on the back side and put it back on the car. The color match (red) is spot on, easy on /easy off. Many compliments on this product and look.:2tu:

Have the whole front end clear bra'd in the 3M stuff. Little bit of orange peel on the finish, but WAAAAAY better then rock chips. I didn't use the standard kit, covered the entire front bumper from top to underneath, entire front fenders, hood, and entire side sills. Used the 14 mil behind all 4 tires also as extra protection.

I have the Mopar bra. I've used it for highway driving and it works fantastic. Not a color matched bra, but since after 50 miles of highway driving the nose of my car is covered with bug guts it really makes a difference when I just undo a couple hooks and the front end is displayed with no bugguts! The windshield still needs cleaning, but the bugs off the nose makes precleaning the car for a show quite simple. I normally drive hundreds of miles to every car show. I've got 42,000mi on my car now. No rock chips!

Other than the 3m clear coatings, which are not bras, I do not recommend the leather/vinyl bras. In my personal opinion they look like crap and very tacky.

Wanna buy a used one? Used it once for a trip to Florida. Got it from Snake Oyl. Probably won't put it back on.

I appreciate the offer, but after reading this thread, I would say 3M looks like the way to go! The thought of having dirt/dust get in behind the bra and then rub against the paint gives me the hebidy gibidies!:D

Out of curiosity though, why did you decide to pull it off and not use it again??

I would suggest to only go with D cups and above, DD for double your pleasure. Occassionally you can go for a C cup but never less! Trust me ;) :omg: :2tu:

And they must be the skinny verions, do not go for X-tra large versions like ILLSMOQ whos motto is "only 250 lbs and up for me" --->

Yes, I thought it looked good on my Silver, but if you don't take it off regularly, esp. when it gets wet, it can do more harm than good. I would recommend it for long trips, then take it off. So it can become too much of a hassle. Now doesn't that make you want to buy mine!!:D

A force field would be the best solution.

Bug guts are really bad for your paint (and should discolor the 3M?) and that's a huge advantage of the leather/vinyl bra, besides the rocks.

What I find to be a pia is that someitmes I have to remove it when it's wet. Since my car has only 2.5" of clearance it's really low. Still wouldn't trade it for a $1500 coating on my paint. I'm sure I can get my nose reapainted for that much (unless they have to peel off the 3M).

Just my opinion, but I do a lot of highway driving and that makes a difference.

Avoid bras at all cost. Not only do they look hideous, but they scratch the paint also...you will end up having to do paint work regardless. Drive the car and enjoy it... :drive:

I just went for a long drive today in my Lexus LS460L and just got back and easily cleaned off the bug guts off the 3M ClearBra, it was a piece of cake.
When I originally did the very first car (on car number 4 now), he gave me some spray that works great. Its made by Plexxus, seems to be specifically made for this application-clearbra.
