What is the stock bottom end good for?

I asked the same question before and not really received a real answer. I think the answer is nobody knows or is not telling. I know of many 600-700rwhp stock bottom end cars and there are a few near 800 but then Hennessey got 1,080 so what's the limit, no ones saying

The transmission seems extremely strong, but the clutch is the weak point and will slip under very high loads. Rear end is not too good for launching with slicks, seems to break often. Half shafts are the weakest link of the entire drive train.

No computer mods can be done (inexpensively) as far as re-programming the stock computer.

Uhhh, it's good for keeping the flywheel turning at up to 6200 rpm for heavy street and track usage for many trouble-free years, as long as you keep oil in the sump.

some questions:

how much can you push through the stock bottom end? i am assuming enough fuel and cat-ed exhaust, progressive power (no nos or jekyl & hyde turbos). are there any differences about gen1 and gen2 engine strenght?

trany- what is it good for assuming a good aftermarket clutch, strong rearend and no slicks?

in addition are there any aftermaket tools that allow you to "write" to your onboard computer? (ie. no autotap style read-only, but a writing tool).. or this is reserved for the tuner shops strictly...

i am particulary interested in what has been done so far and not what people are planning to do...

thanx in advance for the info

STRONG! FYI Hennessey has pulled Dyno numbers of 1000+ RWHP using twin turbo's and NOS all on the stock bottom end. So from what I've read it's good for pretty much any think you'll do.

There are differences between gen 1 and 2 (can't remember for sure, someone else will likely reply) ALSO there were piston changes from forged to cast in 2000 (do a search on pistons)
The cams were also changed (unsure of year, I think 2000 as well) and are known as "creampuffs.

STRONG as well, It's the exact smae tranny used in the racing Viper GTS-R's, I think they're exactly the same with little to no modification.

i see. so a pre 2000 model will respond better to mods and is more suitable for force feeding since the pistons are forged? also, are there any changes in the bottom end besides the forged/cast piston change? block? crank? main bearings? conrods? compression? piston skirt depth?

are there any aftermarket abs systems for pre 01 models? because i do need abs, but it sounds like that "my" viper should be a pre-00 model if i want to run boost...

1 bad gts, you will be getting a call...

anybody else want to do a brain dump in writing on the subject?

thanx
