The stock cars, even acr's, sound very mellow. At slow speeds or at idle they don't sound very mean. They don't have that big V8 rumble, like the old muscle cars. In fact I think cars like the Camaro SS or Firebird WS6 sound more mean and musclecar-like. How come Vipers don't sound like big block V-8's? Is it cuz they're not V-8's?

Or is it because dodge designed the exaust that way?
Thanks

Big block V-8s aren't in production cars anymore, but if they were the choking government regulations would whimpify them too. Granted, the Viper sounds disappointing in stock form but so do all sports cars nowadays. Vettes, Stangs, Fbodys, none of them sound like they should. Sure, it's an easy modification but all these "free country" regulations add to the cost of the car.

My standard answer to this question.

This is a unique car. Not a v8 muscle car, it was not designed to look like, run like or sound like a v8. Just like Ferraris, Porsches and the such, it has a unique sound. I prefer it that way. It is music to my ears.
