my guess is that it would depend on if it was a warranty rebuild or a customer situation. if warranty my guess is they use a like piston that was orginally supplied on that year vehicle. if being done by or for a customer they will probably put in what ever you are willing to specify/pay for.
I think its a cast piston unless you specify you want the forged. At a Viper tech session, we were told all rebuilds come with the parts Dodge now sells. Not necessairly what came on the vehicle. I believe this same exact question is what brought the topic up.

I think this is right, as I've heard of a couple of situations where engines that came with forged pistons were rebuilt with cast. Something to be aware of if you have an earlier car that winds up needing a rebuild.
