Viper and PVO will have a clean sweep if they come out with the coupe (fingers crossed). C6 is too ugly, and you can tell they're trying to play catch up behind the Viper (they aren't trying to stay in one class), and the GT is expensive with very little performance enhancing mods to be available.

Viperzilla, what do you mean "they aren't trying to stay in one class"?

I agree the GT is in a "different" class.

I see the American cars as being as different levels, you have the Mustang SVT, then the C5/ZO6, then Viper (not counting the C6 or GT yet). The Vettes keep trying to keep up with Vipers. The C4 was in a class by itself, the Viper arrived, and the C5 went to the next class, or level, to stick with the RT/10, then the Z06 tried to stay with the Gen II level. Now the C6 has to try and keep up with the SRT. I think the word "level" could have better fit to what I was trying to convey. sorry for the confusion.

Gotcha. And I agree.

I wish the General would really put up a fight and come out with an SRT ******. Then we would see a world ****** in the form of a Gen III coupe, in my opinion. Competition is great for the consumer.

It's out now, you just can't drive it on the street. Come to Viperdays and see some!

Considering the C5 came out in 97 and the RT was available for sale in 1992, I doubt the C5 was designed to keep up with the RT! The C5 was being designed years before it was sold to the general public - GM's most obvious effort to 'keep up' with the Viper is the 405hp Z. I predict the C6 will not have more than 550 horses and by that time the SRT coupe should be out with more power/tq.

No Flame Intended, Just Observation.

When it does finally come out, will it still be called the GTS? Seeing as the RT/10 went to SRT/10 this brings me to assume that the GTS will go to some other name.

Will it be called SRT Coupe? Cant be called Comp Coupe as there is already THE Comp Coupe (can it?). Just curious... :p

From what I've been told from my "insiders" that the v10 hemi is suppose to come out in the "coupe" viper. I've told its done amazing in testing, suppose to be smaller in displacement then the current v10 but be in the range of 600hp I heard. I haven't heard much on the info other than it's been in a Dodge ram pick up for a lot of testing. No I'm not referring to the SRT-10 ram with the current viper engine either. All I can suspect is the v10 hemi is a larger cousin of the 5.7 or the 6.1 hemi they had but never used in the trucks.

There are others here more wired to DC than I, but the engineers at the VOI7 seminar were asked about hemis in the Viper and they commented yes to passenger cars (and we are currently seeing previews in the magazines now) but no to the Viper. Viper to continue in present V10 form.

I hope it goes to those who bought and held the SRT, just like the SRT went to those who bought & held new Vipers previously. What sweet revenge to Dodge against those who declined the SRT and called it names ;-)

Kverges, I'm curious, did you buy and hold? I did not, but then I did not flip either, I gave it up through the dealer to another VCA menber, does that make me a bad guy, I did not make a penny and my deposit of 2k was out there for two years with no interest. I accepted the SRT and passed it on to someone else who believe me deserved it.

Personally I didn't buy an SRT because I don't like convertibles so I guess I'm a bad guy. As far as selling them in the first year to buy and hold SRT owners that is fine with me. I would not want one anyway. I'd rather not put a deposit on something I don't know the price on, end up getting a "new" car that is a year old already, and getting a first year guinea pig car. So it's fine with me if current SRT owners want to get back at people that did not buy the SRT. What is curious to me is why would you consider being the first to get a Coupe as sweet revenge? I thought you already got your revenge on us by getting the GREAT SRT? Please don't tell me a Coupe would be better. I was just starting to believe all the SRT hype you guys are dishing out! And besides as you all argued aren't we all part of the Viper family? Your revenge attitude does not seem to be in character with your previous attitude that we should not fault the SRT because we are all part of the Viper family and we should be kind to SRT owners. Gee...for some reason the word "hypocrite" comes to mind.

DDog...

I just went out to the garage and told the SRT that you were just blowing off some steam and that you really did think the SRT was great

...and you know your opinionated opinions have always gotten my attention :D
