Which coilover setup would be best recommended on my Gen 1? I'm on a budget so don't tell me Moton's or Penske cause that's a no brainer :D money is tight and my old suspension needs to be replaced. I don't track the car but maybe a few 1/4 drag strip runs and that's it. I don't want something to blow out like the Aldan coilovers that previous owners had issues with in the past so that's a no no with them UNLESS they have improved on there products :dunno:

I've been lurking around and found these..let me know what you guys think. If someone knows a source to these products for a good deal or have some laying around that they don't need please let me know, thanks.

Great timing for this thread, as I'm also looking around at options. I think there may be a couple of us Gen1 folks all looking at the same time.

I've got the $1K Aldans. They are nice for the street, but not so much for road racing. I can't comment on 1/4 mile.

I have talked with a couple of folks, Dan at DC gave me a couple of options:

1) Custom valve Koni & ride height adjustable (not adjustable compression/rebound)
2) American Eagle custom shocks (ride heigh, compression, rebound adjustable)

There are also KW's available for the Gen1.

I'd like to see what the advantage of the higher $ brands over the custom Koni's is. I would imagine that if one is not going to adjust the compression/rebound for specific track/car setups, the Koni's will be the best $ value.

Update: I spoke with H&R. There is NO Gen1 or Gen2 shock available from them. They are 2003+ only. The online stuff from the resellers is wrong.

What are the prices for the American Eagle's? I forgot about KW but that's just as pricey as Moton's and Penske. I'm thinking about going with the Koni's as well.

TexasPettey you have PM.
