I am going to buy a larger heat exchanger for my Paxton Kit and there seem to be 2 good options and i'd like to know someone that has used or seen both.
Both DLM and DC have kits that they sell. After talking to both tuners, they both have convincing arguments that their's is better. Both come with the larger cooler and a larger pump. The major difference I see is that the DLM is $650 and the DC is $1000. I don't mind spending the extra, but i would like to hear from someone who has experience with both and could tell me which is better.

If it factors into your opinion;

-Our coolers are full-framed, they will withstand all the bouncing and jouncing you can throw at them without distorting and cracking, and they can be mounted with hardware directly. They are all-aluminum construction, and completely TIG welded and tested. Also, as an added bonus, if you can wait a few extra days, we can have it anodized for you from a pallet of colors. (Please let us know beforehand if you want it anodized as we will change the type of TIG filler rod used)

-Our pumps are manufactured from Billet Aluminum, are hard anodized, and have aluminum impellers. They are completely rebuildable and are rated for the lifespan of a normal car before rebuilding would be required. They are "hard-mount", and mount directly to the core support without clamps. No clamps to loosen up over time.

I went with the DLM cooler, also got the belt tensioner as well. Works great. I only have experience with the DLM cooler. Its bigger and alot lighter then stock Paxton cooler. Thats all the info I needed to make the decision. All my friends run the DLM as well. I knew the DLM name and everyone else on here was running them, so thats what helped me make my decision. But with everything, eventually others start offering kits that may be just as good or better.

If you're handy, you could always check out what the Mustang Cobra guys are using. There's quite a selection to choose from. Might require a little fabrication on your end, but it's always nice to have options...

Hey Rich,

Hope you are getting your new Paxton install sorted out.

I went with a custom aluminum, full frame, tig welded, pressure tested unit (like Daniel's) that I had made locally. I then added the upgraded DC pump and plumbing (not sure who makes these).

My advice on this subject would be, get the biggest, best one you can find and can afford. Las Vegas can be very, very hot in the summer and you need to be able to cool your intake air charge better than most.

Getting feedback from other owners is very good. Just sift through the feed back carefully. Without some way to measure the effects of the new heat exchanger, some guys may think their unit is working very well and may not really know. You will need to ask them if they have a way to measure the performance of the upgraded heat exchanger system.

Like a few others, I have an AEM unit in my Paxton car. I can monitor and log intake air temps as I drive the car, so I'm not guessing that the heat exchanger works well, I can measure that it works well by watching the intake air temps climb steadily under extended heavy throttle. All intake air temps will climb steadily under extended heavy throttle with just a heat exchanger. The better heat exchanger systems will help make it so the intake air temps climb more slowly and allow you to continue to make more power, longer.

Unfortunately, I did not get either of the three units mentioned above, so I really can't comment on their performance. Knowing the folks that make them, they are likely all very good.

You may want to consider water / **** injection as an additional intake air cooling agent.

Good luck,

Dan

the viper specialty cooler looks to be the best engineered set up. I have the DLM cooler and it's been great....people think it's a front mount intercooler for turbos. ;)
