Short answer would be stick with the early GenII cars.

Maybe Tom (BTR) will offer some more indepth comments, 2000+ seem to handle a 100 shot without problems, get serious with juice and trouble may arise.

The good news is it's not "all" that expensive to upgrade to better pistons if you get a steal or are hooked on the newer cars for color reasons, etc......

Good luck,

Yep, stay away from the cast pistons.

The cast pistons will handle a 100 shot if everything is correct. If you are off on A/F ratio or bad gas, you don't have much insurance.

Hello,

We have lots of customers with 00' and newer hyperutectic piston vipers that are making 200 extra hp with our nitrous kits with no ill effects. Nitrous by itself has never hurt an engine, the lack of fuel delivery and high total timing is the culprit.

Our systems are designed to run rich which in turn, resists detonation and the subsequent damage that can occur. Your (cast) hyperutecitc pistons are actually stronger than actual cast pistons of old and they are as strong as forged pistons. Their silicone content makes them intolerant to high heat, which can be caused by a lean running supercharger or turbocharger or a nitrous system that is set up too lean.

Check out our website for more info on nitrous oxide injection for your Viper and/or call us anytime for a list of satisfied 00' and newer viper customers.

Hey Tom,
Thanks also, that's an interesting point you made and it shines some light on some thoughts I've been having about the '00+ engines.
