New to the site.
I have been looking at a number of GTS's and I was wondering what is/was the best year?

Also I have sat in a few RT's and I am far to tall, but I do fit into the GTS's that I have been in....Was there any year that Viper added any room in the cockpit area?

I currently own a high-end Cobra Replica with a stroker 427 motor in it that I plan on keeping. I am looking for into a GTS viper for longer trips and SCCA club type events that I particapate in.....Plus there is a nice empty spot in my garage for a new toy!
Thanks for any input

I LIKED MY 97 BECAUSE OF THE COLOR. BUT I'D HAVE TO SAY THAT MY CURRENT 2001 IS THE BEST OVERALL. COLOR/COMFORT/ ETC....

I ALSO HAD SOME OVERHEATING ISSUES WITH MY 96 & 97. NO PROBLEMS WITH THE 2001. JUST MY .02

the vipers got more color choices and creature comforts as the years progressed.. if you have the bucks, i would look into a late model (99 and up) gts, especially if you plan on taking long trips in the car..

Thanks for the input.....I am on the lookout for a 2000 or newer GTS. There seems to be a quite a few nice ones on the market right now.....

I am still curious about, if there are any differences in **** -pit sizes?...I had to do a tremendous amount of custom work to fit into my Cobra...( I am 6"4")

Contact JonB or do a search here for seat lowering kits, many previous threads. Two available one is adjustable and one is not. Your heighth should not have any problems with the seat dropped.

I'm 6'3" and barely fit in my 97 GTS. I do not believe the year has made any difference in the cockpit size of the Viper. The GTS have about 2 more inches of head room than a RT/10 (with the top up). There are two lowering kits available that I have seen and have been thinking of getting one myself. One lowers everything my an inch and still allows the seat to move forward, the other drops it by 2 inches but you can't adjust the forward/backward movement. I suspect you would be OK in a GTS with the 2 inch lowering kit.

BTW - 97's are the best

why limit yourself to 2000 or later. the 1999 model had all the creature comforts (minus abs) plus forged forged pistons and a mildly more aggressive cam. I like the 99 due to this, plus i like its shifter and door handle erognomics. the rear hatch access latch is also nice to have though frivalous. the 98 is a nice car but 99 is just a little bit better ;^).

i've put together a list of colors, cam profiles, diffs, etc. to complement viperjays list. see:
