I did the side sill mod outlined in the Illustrated Upgrades using the rivet nuts. Great mod if you pull your side sills very often. I figured larger sheet metal screws would just fall out again over time plus the cost of fixing/replacing a rear tire after you run over one of those screws made my decision.

I flattened the holes back to their original position with a screwdriver, put some rust touchup on them, and reused the old screws with hightemp low strength loctite. It takes about 2 lbs. of force to strip them so I installed gently. The loctite holds them solid.

The later Viper side sill screws are a white/grey color because the are coated with something to stop the chemical reaction(steel vs alum.). Anyway this is what I was told and when I converted my 97GTS to side exhaust, my side sill screws are the later type. I don't think that they would be very expensive, but who knows. I also straightened the slots and used some blue LOCTITE. Just don't over tighten the screws and you should be fine. Ask the Wizard for a price on a set of the coated sheet metal screws. He is great to members. :2tu:

Anyone find a good source for SS screws with a built in washer for the rivetnut install? I used cap heads and washers, but I would like to get rid of the loose washers if possible.
