I believe its painted, this is what 4adodge.com says

"Dodge Provides Spider-Man Viper for Cingular Wireless Sweepstakes.

A custom designed Spider-Man Dodge Viper has been created for giveaway in a sweepstakes sponsored by Cingular Wireless. In conjunction with the release of the new Columbia pictures movie Spider-Man, participants will have a chance to win one of two Dodge Vipers custom painted with the web design, logo, and red and blue of the marvel comic based super hero.

According to Viper Magazine (which you should receive any day now) the Viper was painted by PVO's Bob Soroka. The design work was done by Trevor Creed's design team at DC including Ralph Gilles and Dean Ackerman.

The "paint" is actually a vinyl wrap (kinda like a big sticker). If you look at the car in personal you can see the edges and have nightmares about what the sun will do to it. The design is cool and there have been many conversations about it. Hit the search key and type in "Spiderman" you'll see what I'm talking about...

I think you’re wrong on this one. On my GTS factory stripes you can see and feel the edge also, yet they are painted. I did a search and came up with this originally posted by snakeyes

“The paintjob is pretty kool, even for a Spiderman car. No, it is not a sticker or a vinyl wrap. It is actually a graphic painted on the cars by Bob Soroka. Yes there are two cars. I talked to the carrier that is responsible for taking the car from place-to-place. Who else-Reliable. So far he has been in about 30 different cities, next stop is Louisville. He said his most asked question is about the 'speakers' in the hood. Next is how fast, and how much is it worth. He drilled me with questions so the next time he will be prepared for the onslaught of queries. If anybody wants to see the pics, let me know and I'll post a few.”

I took my 99 GTS to downtown Baltimore at the Cingular store with the Spiderman viper. They let me back in nose to nose. see photos in the media section. The carrier/manager said the paint job was
something like $8k special. I looked very carefully at the edges, around the NACA duct, took several close up photos. It looked like a very nice paint job, not a decal or wrap. The car had only 60 miles on it, no license.

I didn't think paint would leave an edge like that. Are both cars painted? The one I saw up at the Concord mall struck me as stick-on... (maybe I've been hanging aorund too many ricers...)

Hi Bonk, 'tis possible I am wrong ( that'd be a first.. LOL j/k)
I'm no paint expert.. just my observation.. up close it looked
very good, in the grooves around the NACA duct and in the hood air
louvers.... hard to 'wrap' in those places. Guess only Cingular
'knows for sure' . The manager seemed to know about that.. not a whole lot else.
