Just got back from our "Detroit Dream weekend" with about 35 of our fellow VCA members.... What a blast. First stop was the ASC plant to watch viper panels being painted. Got to talk to the line workers and watch them from start to finish. An interesting fact is that there are more women than men working on your snake to make your paint job perfect.... Then, it was on to CAAP where they make the Viper.... from frame to finished product we saw it all. There was a small viper store also. Cups, pens, key chains, shirts, jackets, mugs, you name it. In the reception room we were able to view the actual 96' indy pace car and listen to it too. We also got to see the raffle car. It was in pieces at the time but mostly painted.... VERY cool. Then, on to another ASC plant where low and behold they had a new 2003 waiting for us to SIT IN! They had a few people there to answer all of our questions. We got to pop the trunk, hood and do basically anything we wanted to. One luckly guy even got to move it a few feet for pictures. The next day it was on to the auto show for some more fun......
If you think you can take a public tour at any of these places, guess again. You have to be a VCA member. I suggest anyone who isn't involved in the VCA club join and find out for themselves just how worth your $100 membership really is. This trip was priceless......
