Very foolish prior to having 5pts no top, 140mph
then backed off and needed clean shorts

155 mph with no top on it is the fastest so far.

One of these days I'll top that when the conditions are right.

I don't own an Viper yet, but here's my numbers so far, all indicated speedometer speeds, not GPS or timed, all done on lone back roads:

Mustang 110 mph
Ninja 195
Tundra 100
R1 167 (digital speedo)
jet ski 56 (digital, darn fast for being on water)
Lightning 120

OMG!!!!!!! I hope that was a long stretch of STRAIGHT road! I think that speed scares me just reading about it.

TOOOFST...Looks like I'll have to wait until we get together to see how fast I need to go to keep up with you guys.

ZX12...195 is way fast. I've only done 155 on my ZX11 and it was fast enough for me

Re: Who\'s gone fast in their R/T10?

The Viper: well, it's up there, but undocumented.

Other vehicle: 632MPH, east bound, with jet-stream at my back. GPS verified. --I noticed people are listing a bunch on non-viper vehicles, so I thought I'd add a plane, anyone out there a USAF pilot who's broken Mach 1?

Maybe we should ask how many G's it the max someone with a good wing has pulled?

Lastly, with the poor drag coefficent on a Viper, if one was dropped from 60,000 feet, I still don't think you could get it much past 200MPH!

If you really want to test the Viper (Legally) then you should try the Silver State Challenge in May and September.
see www.silverstateclassic.com Think about running at over 150 for 90 miles. This will get your attention.
See a soon to be post about the event this May.

Re: Who\'s gone fast in their R/T10?

ChuckO,little over a year ago, when I bought the car from a dealer in NC,flew out that morning and drove straight through to chi-town,what a great ride.Just over 165 I shut down, after a perfect stretch. My 97 GTS was smoother riding at 185.That's exactly why I bought the R/T 10,it slows me down, with the top off i'm just as happy 50mph less than I was in the GTS.

Re: Who\'s gone fast in their R/T10?

I love going as fast as anyone else but every once in a while you get a grim reminder of what speed can do. last night myself and a few friends decided to go see 'ground zero' in NYC. Anyway in a small tunnel that leads to the FDR there was an accident involving a motorcycle (Yamaha R1). From what we heard the bike was going a bit too fast and when he came around the turn traffic was stopped and he had nowhere to go. THe motorcycle driver was on the ground motionless. The police and ambulance were not there yet. We were all shocked and offered help, but some people were doing that already. From the looks of it the rider seemed gone, but we all hoped for a miracle.

Let's all be careful out there.

zx-12.. i think i have you beat
biggrin.gif
i had my zx-12r speedo burried at 220.. i have a 00 zx12r - supposedly the only unrestricted model year (the jury is still out on if there is a limiter on not though.. nobody seems to know for sure)..

220 indicated is about 190 corrected. so if you had 195 indicated you were at about 170 or so..

still plenty fast though...

the fastest i've ran in a car is 185 gps-ed (in the m5).

btw, speed does kill.. but you can die doing 35 during rush hour so in my book anything above 100 at 3am on a deserted highway is less dangerous than that..

Non-RT

I've had my Impala up to 140 in a race against a M3 on a midnight run from Dover to Rehoboth Beach DE (approx 30 miles, though I really wouldn't call it a race it was more like "I think I can still see his taillights") Something clanked under the hood so I gave it up (that's my story...)

Re: Who\'s gone fast in their R/T10?

162, top off, rear window out, sunny summer day, on NYS Thruway heading south at about 7:30 am with a cop in the passenger seat.....best insurance.
Hard top on....about 155-ish
Soft top on...about 130-ish.....try not to do that with the soft top on. I'm afraid it'll tear off.

Konw what? Felt like I had lots more to go, just ran out of straight road. So much for cream-puff RT/10's.

Have done 145-50+ routinely on I84 between Taconic and Danbury,CT.

Can't wait for this summer.

Re: Who\'s gone fast in their R/T10?

I was not looking at the Speedo in either of these cases...verified on the GPS with a slightly amazed friend in
the next seat over

174 No top, windows down (still pulling, slowly)
185 hardtop, windows up (still pulling, running out of straight and ba**s)
