Viper Owner
I must say that I'm a Viper newbie. I want to qualify this post by saying that I don't own any model of Viper and the last time I saw a Viper in person was an RT 10 back about 8-10 years ago. I have never seen an SRT 10 in person.
I think I know why the Gen I/II crowd doesn't particularly care for the styling. In a photograph, it looks too square. I was watching some sort of rally on the Speed channel and out pops up an SRT 10 and I was captivated. No photograph has ever done it any justice and I saw it on TV for about 10 seconds.
You cannot see the curves at all in a picture and I'm sure that TV doesn't do it any justice either but it helps. The "gills" have been squared off which is where the Viper trademark lies (in my opinion). I imagine the front of the car is slimmer then the back but you can't see that in pictures. The curves are missing and it doesn't look like a low and wide car because the trademark Dodge crosshair grill is too tall. I think the new coupe helps accentuate those curves a little better then the convertible but I'm not a Coupe/GTS type guy. I think the Viper looks very "business like" in the back with a classic exotic car look and the front looks very sporty but it's those sides that "makes" the car. The gills brings it over the top. Those square gills aren't helping much and if they disappeared, so too would the Viper trademark. I'm sure the gills look much better in person and this is where the misunderstanding lies.
I can tell you that that SRT 10 looked awesome in that short TV clip and if disposable income was there this minute, I'd be paying Daveny a visit right now! You guys have a sweet ride and it deserves much respect. An SRT 10 convertible would be my first choice. I will have to settle for an RT 10, I think, because I don't have the funds to pull it off but I will know what I really wanted. I just can't wait much longer to join you guys
Anyway, this is just an opinion from a non Viper owner (yet).
