I realized, (I think) that though I have a 99, I do not have Konis.

My shocks look just like this:

These are the shocks Mopar performance is offering on its web page.

Is my car not "stock"? Does anyone know if they switched to these during 99?

Look at the bottom of the shock body on the left. You will notice the "I" and part of the "N" in KONI. This is a twin-tube design. The later issue Dynamic shocks are single tube and feature remote accumulator bottles attached to the bottom of the shock, similar to the Penske formula-type dampers.

I still believe that the reason the Konis rattle is that the OEM standard spherical bearing bore is 7/16" and the mounting ears on the car are 9/16" diameter. That makes for a total of 1/8" slop between the bolt and ears at each upper and lower mounting point. I have never actually measured the installation of the Koni-damped ACRs, so it is a bit of conjecture on my part. However, it seems to be the most logical explanation I can come up with.

"Viper Wizard" refuses to divulge his "fix" and I don't think that's right. My guess is he loosens the bolts and retorques them with weight on the dampers to take out the slop.

I'm sure JonB could fill me in as to whether the YEAR actually MATTERS but I did test drive an '02 ACR last week and there was no rattle.

. I was told not to let it out. The man said so [dc] they know better then me? They have their own fix? All you have to do is call them and they will send you a set of stock shocks to stop the rattle! When you want to use your ACR shocks at the track then you would put them on? NO S$$T that's what they told me. I've gotten a few sets of shocks for ACR owners already.Free!
Dean, you want the answer? You have to call me!

You drove a car with the later Dynamic Dampers and they don't rattle.

Todd, I have a '99 and it never did rattle. At about 1500 miles, Bobby Archer did change the coil springs, stainless bushings, toe-link reinforcement, bigger sway bars, and a few other things but even before that, when the car was completely stock, they never rattled.

Strange, but true.....

My ACR shocks ARE Konis! Sorry for the mis-information. I looked at them this morning during my spark plug change.

So I'm back to not knowing why I don't rattle.

You can always just tie a few empty soup cans to your pants and you'll be rattling in no time!
