Wiper Intermittent Control Module

I need a Gen 1 wiper control module (located forward under passenger floor) and see that Gen 2 module looks the same but different part number.

Before I start calling around, does anybody know about interchangeability?

I assume you are having wiper 'crashes', or out of sync blades getting all tangled up - right?
I had the same problem; switched out the control module (from a friends '96 like mine), and that was NOT the problem. I switched motors, (obtained to try from our Viper Tech) one at a tine; left, right; right, left, etc, and nothing worked. I finally ordered 2 used motors (left and right) from a late Gen2, from: Paul Scharf @ 800-338-4002.

This solved the problem, and the wipers run as expected.

The "out of sync" wipers I have come acrossed have been a bad park switch in the right wiper motor. Just FYI.

No, I had no wiper movement at all. Fuse 18 was good, so I followed the service manual tests for the stalk switch, tested the continuity from switch to module, and all was good. Neither wiper arm moved, but the washer pump came on. Manual therefore said to replace module.

Coincidentally, I do have used left and right motors. If it's not the module, I can try the motors and check more wires. I'll report back when it's repaired. It was a sudden no-operation problem, which of course you only discover at a wrong time.
