Sounds good, Tony, I'll let you know what I come up with later this week!

Keeping warm I hope? Wendy said to tell you "Hello" and "Thank You" for the pictures. BTW, I'm doing everything I can to have your machine ready for the V10 Nats!

Larry, I know you are doing what you can, I appreciate it, but I do not want to rush you. When it is done, I want it to be really done, if that is possible. The end of my mods is here, spent to much already. Time to just own and enjoy. Thank you.

Hi Larry. I ordered a kit 2-3 months ago through www.mvpmotorsports.com, which I think is the same thing or very, very close to what Sean sold. They do not list a Viper-specific kit on their website, but they checked with the supplier, found out they did have a kit for the Viper, and had it drop-shipped from Pacific Microlite (note--this company is/was sometimes referred to as Phoenix Microlite). It did say on the box it was for cars with projector beam headlights and uses the correct 9005 style bulbs. It was a pretty simple plug & play install, everything fit inside the headlight housing, and the bulbs and ballast/igniter are all made by Philips. It seems to work really well, and is definitely much brighter than stock. I think it was $499 if memory serves me correctly. Their customer service was excellent, so you may want to give them a call.

Hello Larry,

I am currently awaiting the arrival of a Hella Ballast/Phillips Bulb 7500K 9006 system that I will implementing into my personal car. If this kit meets my approval, I will be purchasing at least 2-3 additional kits. I may also work with this distributor in an attempt to offer a system similar to the Roe system that used to be available. However, if you wish to work with me on this further, please contact me over e-mail or PM. "Big Brother" will not allow a distributor to openly install or advertise these kits on street cars, so we would have to keep it on the "Down Low".

PS- 7500K is VERY blue, similar to OEM Audi, BMW, Etc...

Daniel, doesn't your car have 9005's in it? I know there are some Viper spec sheets floating around that say it has 9006's, but Sean told me I needed 9005's for my '01, and when I removed mine that's what they were. I don't know what the 9006's look like though--perhaps they're interchangeable?

REDGTS- 9006 is Low Beams, 9005 is High Beams. I am about 99% sure this is correct. Granted, you can put any type of bulb onto an existing HID system, just need a new connector. They are interchangeable with a little bit of handy-work...just need to shave down one of the insertion tabs, and presto...it FITS!

I will check and make 100% sure tomorrow...should have checked the *&^%& thing yesterday when I had the cover off anyway!

CRAP. the book I was looking at is ALLLLLL wrong. figures! I just dropped a line to my supplier to state the correction needed. shouldnt pose a problem. The Low Beams are 9005, and high beams are 9011. Oh well, rather find out now, than later!

I bought mine from Autolamps.com. It wasn't cheap. Around $600 shipped. I got the Philips Ultinon 6000K. Any higher in Kelvin, and you will lose lot of visibility. Most OEMs are 4300K. I highly recommend this kit - easy installation under 1hr installation.

Just heard back from my supplier- geting 9005 instead of 9006 is not a problem. The shipment left Germany a few days ago and is inbound at this time. will take a couple days to get through customs, but then is good to go. I should be approx 450-500 for a "Viper Specific" kit.

PS- Most OEM kits are 4100K-4300K, however, these are generally the HID kits on the street that you dont notice. (IE: the ones that blind you, but you dont know are actually HID's) BMW/Audi/Nissan use 5500K-7500K systems. The Output in Lumens for a 4100K system is about 3000 Lm, while a 8000K system is about 2300-2500K. A standard Halogen bulb is 1000 or less. No matter how you cut it, ANY HID will be at least twice as bright. In my opinion, the tradeoff for a higher color temp is well worth it.

I have a Roe setup which looks a lot like the sbkim has. It gives a very white light unlike the cheezy blue color of the OEM BMW lights or fake HID's. Anyone know what K it is?

My guess is within 4300-6000K range. Please note that HID color does change (1, start up color is much blue than warmup and 2) after a period of extended usage i belive they turn more blue? I belive this is the reason why Philips offered 6000K to be able to match the other headlamp should one blow out...

I know this is a little off subject, but while all the light people are here I will ask. What would be the brightest white light that is not HID? Is it the silver star? What one is in from the factory?
Are the HID illegal? Is there a chance that the heat will warp, melt or discolor the lens, or the snake oyl 3M looking plactic protective sheet I put over the lens?

Thanks
Andy

Thanks
Andy

The kits I would be selling would incorporate Hella ballasts, and (according to the seller) Phillips bulbs. I will have to wait and see though. I also contacted him to see if he had 6000K and lower systems and/or bulbs available.

AJT - you want 4300K kit. If I were you, I would go with the highest quality kit available. Since all HID retrofits are illegal in US, reputable companys like CATZ stopped carrying these kits. Nonetheless, there are other smaller reputable co's that carry good kits - albeit little expensive. But I've heard too many horror stories of these cheap asian kits (under $400) that blows up after 3-5 months. Another FYI, many kits use Hella/Philips ballast. This doesn't mean squat - kit means exactly that - you have to look at the whole package (i.e., quality of wiring harness, rebased bulb, customer support). Again, my vote goes to Autolamps. You will not have any problems with the housing as HID burns only 35w. Good luck
