New Key Remote

Just purchased from The Viper Store a new Key Remote for my Red RT/10. I called a couple of dealers and they said bring the car in
and they would make it work. Has anyone done this themselves. I have a service manual although I haven't done any work on my viper yet.

You can do it yourself. I don't know what year you have, but I just read up on the process on my 1998 over the weekend. Just need to remove the driver's knee bolster and a wire. If you want specifics PM me; I know we get weird about posting alarm nuances on the public board.

Let us know how you make out with the DIY. I was timid to try as ive read about a few being unsucessful with it. Also the possiblity of getting locked out(usually due to alarm issues).

Took mine to the dealership to be programed. They plugged the computer into my OBD2 port and set it up after about 10min. Charged me for a halfhour of labor; 40bucks. not bad considering some dealerships will not do anything less than an hour.

Yep - gotta short a wire to ground that's hanging above the pedals. Just watched my dealer do this a couple of months ago. DIY and save the hourly labor charges and 1-2 hours spent in the dealership while they figure out how to do it/find the old salty guy that remembers how to do it.

i followed his procedure, took less than 30 mins

after the learning curve, you can do it in about 10 mins

the longest part is scrounging a piece of wire for the jump

just do it
