Looking to see if there are any oil starvation concerns when tracking the 02 GTS? Any recommended upgrades? Thanks.

I added the baffles but the problem was not fully solved, especially under braking. I then had a 4 quart Accusump system added. My oiling issues are non-existent now.

Might want to get ahold of Todd at Arrow. They have an upgraded front cover with a 23mm oil pump(higher volume). You could also port out the oil pan to allow for more flow.

ACR oil filter adaptor. Full flow to the cooler all the time. They are probably out of existance. Possibly the stock unit could be modified?? When oil pressure gets low the car thinks you are idling and shunts oil away from the cooler to help out your AC. The acr filter adaptor was good for + 10 psi pressure also. GTS Bruce

Bandit, you have the "upgraded"(higher capacity) oll pan 00-02 which is better than the lower capacity pan fitted on the 96-99 cars. If your not running R-comps i think you'll be fine.

see you at NJMP later this summer for the VCA trackday?

Dom426h has a point.

As far as the Accusump system, it's best to take it to a Viper shop for the install. It requires plumbing and operates via electronic switches. Total cost of parts was about $500 if I remember correctly, the install costs depend on how fancy you want to get.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I tried to get the ACR adapter unfortunately they are no where to be found. The accusump looks like a good idea in general although I want to speak with Heffner to see any potential issue with piping it into the turbo system.

Here's what I did to mine-
1. ACR oil filter adapter
2. Modified windage tray, allows the oil to drain faster back into the pan
3. 3 qt Accusump. Got mine from Daniel Lesser, on this site.
4. "Trap Doors" in oil pan, allows oil to pool in center of pan near pick-up, but resists sloshing due to G-force. They are really just a kind of hinge, almost like a door hinge. I think I got mine from Joeseph Dell on this site. Its been like 9 years ago, idk.

The Accusump went in the tunnel, mounted on the belly plate, with a braided hose going back to the oil filter adapter, check valve to keep it from pumping into the pan, solenoid, pressure switch, and on/off switch hidden in that a/c vent under the steering wheel. Dave Jenkins installed mine, and he did a great job. Wish he still had a Viper shop in Orange County!

it will also fit between the frame and engine. This make everything more compact and gets out of harms way.

I think you'll be OK without any further mods, unless you're running a 3/8 oval or something like that where you're constantly seeing alot of sideways g's. I was fine with my Gen 2 on road courses like Road Atlanta and Barber...where you have a few sweeping turns but not continuous sideways g's.

The accusump is always a good idea, for protection in the case of low pressure if nothing else.

Joseph, if nobody else from this thread buys yours, I may be interested for the race car.....if I can find a frikkin place to put it!:)

I believe I have a picture (Gallery) of the accusump mounted between the engine and the frame. It flts perfect. Kind of a side benefit, when I installed aftermarket valve springs and 1.7 rockers the rockers would clatter if the car was not driven for a few days. The accumsump eliminated that issue.

I like being able to pre-oil the engine before start up with the accusump. Its been said that most engine wear occurs during start up, so pre-oiling is a real benefit of having an accusump.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll check out the pix. Maybe I'll see something about how you went about it that I can use to mount the accusump in my 98.

The car is an old VRL car campaigned in 2000/2001 and has extensive mods. Underhood area is very crowded as there is a big ole dry sump tank and a bunch of welded-in stiffening elements. There is zero room in the passenger footwell (battery and fire suppression system) and the back is all fuel cell and cool tank.
