What's up y'all, you guys can call me Howie. I got myself a 2005 Viper with 36k miles about a month ago. I took some samples of the differential fluid and transmission fluid and everything checks out, no metal or anything. I put some new fluids in her, transmission, differential, oil, coolant and power steering fluid. Got a 1 step ceramic coating on the paint and wheels. I've put about 1,500 miles on her already, might have hit around 130mph the other day having some fun. Got a chance to have a couple pulls on the Dyno the other day, shes at 436HP and 425 ft/lbs torque, 155mph in 4th gear. The guy definitely had no reason to do two pulls but whatever. I did a thorough inspection of the underside. Let's just say there is some obvious damage to the front bumper, rear diffuser, and the exhaust H-pipe was ripped out by bottoming out by the last guy who owned her. I have a list of things I wish to upgrade and change, mostly little stuff, I want a different oil cap that doesn't leak at high temp, patch the hole in the exhaust on both sides, some missing screws on the side skirts etc.
I need someone to give me an honest and educated opinion about these exhaust holes. Should I repair them or not?

Those holes in the exhaust are pretty weird, wonder if they are intentionally made or what? I would fix them.

I would also disable the skip shift solenoid in the transmission if it has been done already.

Seeing as there is an O2 sensor right next to one of those holes, I'm thinking it would probably make sense to repair. I would think that could easily cause some tuning issues that you may be chasing later if you don't.

Looks like someone made them as they look about the same distance form each 02 sensor. i think once they are repaired and they should. You will fine out the reason they were cut in. I would also recommend a Corsa cat back exhaust system and get rid of the crossover exhaust. The sound is awesome and the cab will be a lot cooler. I would have someone scan the computer system I am sure it has the 02 bypassed there is no way it would not set a check engine light on with that hole so close to the sensor.

I also recommend swapping the cross over system with a cat back system. I did it not only is the cabin cooler the door sills are cooler. And it eliminates a lot of weight and will sound better. Here is a picture of old and new side by side. Also wrap the new pipes with insulation.

You can also just replace the crossover pipe with the gen 4 tips as I understand it. I have read that both gens used the same part number for the muffler, though I've never actually confirmed that myself. Would address heat issues and change the sound a little bit if you didn't want to go with a full aftermarket setup (assuming you can even find gen 4 tips anywhere that is).

Congrats. Repair the exhaust. Also, consider replacing the power steering pump lines and oil cooler lines. The quick disconnects will leak. Many threads on the parts and how to do.
