Looking at a 94 with some issues. Need opinions.

In addition to Dave's comments, early Gen 1 hoods required A LOT of body filler from the factory to pass muster. Mid-'93+ were better, but still had a noteworthy factory rejection rate. Buying a 30 year old Viper with issues will require time, patience, money and mechanical knowledge. They are...

    Dangerous Gen III Suspension?

I agree with Steve. The knuckle support strut is unnecessary except for frequent track driving. Knuckles fail when they sustain sudden, extreme overloadings in abnormal directions of travel.

How to build a Primer Timer and cure your Viper Fuel Pump Starting Problem

Pump replacement is not impossible - just a bit of a challenge. The RT/10 requires the removal of both the trunk forward closeout panel and the removal of the tank to access the fuel module. Check out the 850hp sticky post at the top of the Gen1/2 forum.

9L Extreme stroker vs supercharged vs turboed

Ben owns two of them. One he drove at LeMans 24, the other he won class at the Daytona 24 in.

9L Extreme stroker vs supercharged vs turboed

Kind of like the Viper Days series of the early 2000's when club racers started buying GTS-R's to run in wheel-to-wheel classes.

Is there a fix for pushing oil with hard driving?

No. It's pretty much all about alternate crankcase venting to overcome very poor Gen 2 CCV design. Post #8 was an incremental improvement, but not a cure. The Gen 1 cars were largely immune to this problem with a standard PCV system and that's what I'm using as an improvement guide right now. I...

    1997 GTS won't start, help!

All that exhaust sound goes right by the occupants' ears, instead of under the floor board. The entire side sills are echo chambers. If you want loud, go with side outlet exhaust, no cats and low restriction mufflers. Everyone will hear you, but you won't be able to hear much after very long -...

    1997 GTS won't start, help!

I have 5:1 headers, 3" HF cats, 3" Moroso Spiral Flows, 2.5" X-pipe in place of the rear muffler. Nice, deep rumble at idle and low speeds and moderately loud howl at 3.5k+. No drone, or resonant buzz with this setup.

    Slow cooling fan

Start with an empty reservoir! Your steering rack is a double-acting hydraulic cylinder with the piston in the middle. It has a good bit of fluid on both sides and to get that out, you should really turn the wheel to the lock in one direction and vacuum drain the reservoir. Cut the wheel to lock...

    Gen 1 Sidepipe Paint Protection

I would suppose that material is known as "helicopter tape". It was originally applied to the leading edges of rotor blades in Viet Nam to protect against erosion due to sand, small stones, bugs, etc. My recollection is that the front edges of the side sills, along with the front corners of the...

Need input for hi flo cats

Some racing classes require cats on the car. The HP aftermarket has responded with high flow units to meet those rules.

Need input for hi flo cats

The upstream O2 reacts quickly to ambient conditions and engine loading in Closed Loop cycle. As the computer alternates from net rich to lean cycles, the downstream O2 measures the oxidation/reduction efficiency of the catalyst in action. If the computer does not sense the proper reaction of...

Anyone keeping up with Casey's 97 GTS Race build youtube channel.

I watched all the segments and he's really pretty frikking clueless about the car. That car has EPICALLY BAD corner gap! The fascia is bolted to the wrong side of the splash shield/core support. The car is sitting up high after shocks/tires because he doesn't have slip plates under them (at...

Is there a correct RTV for the valve cover oil baffle plates

Your baffles look like Gen 1 units, correct? Gen 2 covers were NOT sealed. They are precisely cut for a very close fit without sealant. I believe that any oil that manages to get drawn up top should have a reasonable path to return to the sump. I just juggled a combination of G1&2 valve covers...

9L Extreme stroker vs supercharged vs turboed

If you track your car for HPDE, or Time Trials, you absolutely need to stay NA with a proven, reliable package. If you are doing 1/2 mile, or roll-on type stuff, then boosted is the way to go. A guy I know and ran with several times at COTA has a Calvo 1200 ACR-E built for 1/2 mile. His lap...

What Gen Tonneau Cover is this?

I seem to recall that the later G2 covers had a bendable stiffener rod that held tight against the base of the windshield and no, or fewer snaps. Can anyone else confirm, or deny this? JonB would know.

    Website Analysis

These are exactly the sentiments that were repeated numerous times before a small group of Elites made that fateful decision on behalf of everyone - paid, or not.
