I checked some of my polished, cast&welded 5 spoke 17s today. Bare, with rubber valve stems only: 17x13=25#, 17x10=20#.
I just assembled a set of 18x12.5 CCW Classics. One of them weighs 23# with 1.5# of fastener hardware - 30 pcs.
I am signed up for Chin in Feb. It will be the first time I've run with them, but many friends have and Chin does tracks all over the country. I've only run with Edge Addicts before - 4x at COTA. They run a pretty tight schedule with 5 runs per group per day. They try to get 25min sessions. They...
There's a difference between running a car at the track, and running it HARD. With headers, I automatically call that HARD use and you should equip it to protect everything near the pipes from extreme radiant heat. I've seen a lot of melted plastic & wires and overheated fluid issues in Vipers...
Was it the OE Shield or header wrap? the early Gen 2's when run hard at the track were radiating heat off cyl. #1. So much that it rapidly aged the PS hose and led to failures, sometimes combined with unabated flames. The '98+ cars had an extra extension fold on the shield to mitigate that problem.
The engine uses Chrysler family architecture on the ECM. The V-10 is a V-8 with 2 more cylinders hung on one end. It's a double-wishbone suspension at both ends, which is the same configuration as the Challenger and Charger. They are nothing to be afraid of, but you would do well to own a...
The Viper is just a Dodge, with all systems designed, engineered, manufactured, installed and serviced just like any other Dodge vehicle. The Gen 1 and Gen 2 cars were all, literally, as easy to figure out as a base model stripper RAM pickup.
I would get the back wheels off the ground. Grab each at 3 & 9 and rock them back and forth. You should have zero to barely perceptible movement. If more, you need inner tie rods. If they are stable, look for obviously unbalanced wishbone adjuster cams at each corner. This causes unbalanced...
Fortunately, this line can be replaced pretty easily - other than getting to it. I believe it is an 8mm hard line quick release adapter at the firewall. The manifold end is a 16mm o-ring tube seal. I would think that something similar was used on the V-10 RAM truck engine. Best to remove the...
Thanks, but I'm good for another year+ with my 2 jugs when I decide to change this pan full out. I pulled a hot sample last week and should get my results late this week.
When I finally found the M1, I couldn't find anyone in the store to sell me a hunting license in the sporting goods section three rows away. One person in the whole store to do that and he was "on his lunch break" at 6PM.
My experience is that just a lateral shift was not enough. The fulcrum of the IPSCO shifter is higher and the offset lever is thicker than OE, hitting the ashtray blockout. Moving laterally helps slightly, but dropping the tail shaft housing took care of everything.
