Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

Yes, in effect. The hold up however is that the Gen-4/5 camshaft is not as easily "replaced" by something aftermarket. The Gen-3 has cam cores on the shelf. The Gen-4/5 does not. Its not as easy to re-grind such a camshaft either. Short of going to a solid cam [which would be an easy option...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

I would agree. However, there will absolutely be a power gain with just about any configuration, as well as the fix for the Throttle issue. That in and of itself may be enough for some people. That being said, this package is absolutely the ticket for Paxton Blowers and small bolt-on TT kits to...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

Its actually a LOT more in small quantities. But my thought process is that if I can bury the R&D and production costs into a larger-sales-volume Paxton Kit & Standalone Option, I can likely get the costs under control by making it a high-volume product, thereby offering it separately after the...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

Hi Mike- Take a look at post #47 above. That kind of sums up where this thread currently is sitting. Regarding Smog, states which have sniff testing should not have a problem in any case so long as the converters are still installed. States which have OBD2 testing will need to plug the Venom...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

Question guys: I am entertaining another possibility... using different hardware to gain even more control, and possibly using the Paxton route to offset the design costs since it will likely increase sales drastically. Three questions: 1. Since we were at the ~4.5K ballpark before for...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

It has crossed my mind, yes. I think people would be more apt to buy a package with it buried in the cost than just a flat cost itself to tune.

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

Hi George, Answers below. Unfortunately, the Throttle Response issue is inherent to the Venom controller programming. In the case of what I am talking about, the throttle control would be left to the Venom Controller. The only way to circumvent this is a standalone with Drive By Wire...

    Oil Pressure test access points?

To access you would need a 3/8 pipe 90* elbow, and then a 3/8 to 1/8 or 1/4 reducer for the gauge... unless you have a 3/8 gauge. Your issues sounds like a sensor, or sensor wiring, yes. Failing oil systems rarely return to 100psi, haha.

    Need a wiring diagram!

    Year? Which O2 sensor(s)?

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

Yep... me being a poor builder and tuner is exactly why I have no customers complaining all over the internet about everything I do, and why people drop jaws when they see how we build vs others. I have worked plenty hard to make sure "My **** don't stink". There is a difference between having...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

Actually, I don't wonder at all. I would more than prefer that those with unrealistic expectations of quality and/or engineering/features for a given price bracket contact another builder. I have often said, I refuse to change the level at which I will build products, and that goes for damn near...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

Cam Control? Cruise Control? E85? :lmao: I have a Pectel system with your name on it! You dont get top-shelf standalone features without buying a top-shelf standalone, lol.

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

What I am offering is NOT a true standalone, it is about halfway to one. What I was hoping, is that everyone would have figured out by now that there will likely NEVER be flash tuning for the Gen-4. People have been complaining for years that there were no other options other than Mopar or...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

You are not going to get Cam Control without a full standalone. If you are talking about re-grinds, there are other options altogether. We can revert the Gen-4 to Gen-3 type configuration, solid cam, custom grind, mechanical throttles, etc. However, it comes down to dollars. Its cheaper/better...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

LOL... I would have hoped by now that people figured out that if I say we can do something/build something, it will do exactly what I said it will do?

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

To my knowledge, there is not currently a Gen-4 Infinity system available, and when there is, I would expect it to be in the 6500-8500 range. I do not know what integration level it may ultimately offer as a plug-and-play. No, the Cam Control would remain controlled by the Venom Controller...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

And you are comparing a tune file and flash device for a mass market, to an array of sensors, brackets, wiring, modules, connectors AND a tune file, flash device etc for a non mass market... what else would you expect? None of those parts are free? You are either not factoring in just how "not...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

George- -I think that you, and everyone else, are getting totally off base here. This is a conversion kit that would allow Gen-4 cars to be tuned very much like the Gen-3 SCT cars. Similar capabilities, limitations, and results. This has NOTHING to do with direct power production, and we will...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

I am sorry...I know what you are getting at, but this comment stands out to me. You cannot possibly expect that anything in the Viper market be priced similarly to mass market products... especially for a short production run engine and PCM design? Even if Mopar released the code which is NEVER...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

But isn't that exactly the attitude that caused the market to sit stagnant on tuning options all these years? Virtually nobody puts a full standalone into a Gen-4, because while the argument makes sense on a FULL balls-out build, an extra 5K for tuning capability that you don't really need, does...

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

Three responses in 24 hours? Curious... isn't this the same market who has been complaining for years about the lack of tuning options for the Gen-4? :dunno: If the response to this thread is any indication, I am not going to even spend the time on this one.

    Oil Pressure test access points?

There are two 3/8" pipe plugs on the top of the block between the heads, under the front of the manifold/throttle body. Either will work. Be careful not to get any teflon tape, sealant, or debris in there. What pressure are you seeing that is making you cautious?

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

Yes, it would be limited to a 2-bar MAP. We would likely sell it in a 1 Bar and 2 Bar configuration. We would surely be coming from a manufacturer role, yes.

Gen-4 Guys... possible reasonably priced tuning solution...?

Performance gains are 100% related to the modifications you have, not the tuning system directly. The Target Audience is primarily the guys looking for Supercharger and Turbocharger applications in the low-mid tier range, <1000 HP or so, or with extreme NA mods and head packages... basically the...
