    Another Door won't open Thread

So.... Replaced the switch and that fixed it. In addition to the microswitch, I ordered the a few end caps also. Removed the wiring from the plug to up in the door handle. Held in by two clips. This is how they come. Black wire soldered to top plug closest to plunger, red wire soldered to...

    Another Door won't open Thread

Thanks for the reply, Barry. I checked with a multimeter that I get 12v on the plug the microswitch plugs into. The inside door handle also works fine. That's what makes me think the switch is the problem. I also noticed the microswitch shows some rust around it. I agree that most threads point...

    Another Door won't open Thread

So Here's an update on this. I found the manufacturer part number for the snap-action micro switch used in the door handle. V4LST7 That lead me here. and I placed an order for a few. When they get here I will update the progress.

I'm also a heavy wrencher. Rebuilt the T56 in my 96 GTS myself. I've seen these little switches, I just didn't know them by name. I understand wiring, but like MoparMap says, It's not rocket science. I just need a switch that works. A $5 switch that gets the job done, is better than spending $40...

    Another Door won't open Thread

Thanks for your reply. I'm going to try jumping the path to see if it functions the door. I should add the inside door handle functions correctly. Any body know the name of those little square switches the outside door handle uses? I'm sure I could get a replacement, but if you search...

    Another Door won't open Thread

Got a 96 GTS So my passenger Door won't open from the outside. I've checked and I'm getting 12v at the plug for the exterior little square switch. Nothing happens when the switch is pushed. Is this normal to get 12v? Anyone know what kind or switches these are? Do Gen 3 and 4 cars use the same...

Need Link or Pics to GTS manual door release

Might be helpful, You used the key to open the glass hatch. I can stand next to the back wheel, and reach around to open the door using the emergency latches. This is how you would open the doors if the battery is dead. I have no idea if they work with the door locked though. Good luck. Doug...

Looking for Suggestions...Transmission Fluid, Tran Filter and Thermostat

I know I'm going to stir things up. Amsoil is fine I assume. I've never tried it in anything. Why does it seem like a pyramid scheme to get it? Why isn't it sold in stores? Spare me all this corruption from other oil manufactures, or supporting small business. The fact that you have to find...

Looking for Suggestions...Transmission Fluid, Tran Filter and Thermostat

So everyone has an opinion, and just like buttholes.... I flushed and refilled when I got a new radiator in my 96 with Dexcool 50/50 with distilled water. This was after doing some research on multiple viper coolant threads. It had green before. Between it and the new radiator, temps have been...

Buying my first Viper, gen 2

Congrats on the purchase. I'm like you, I got mine with 86K miles so I could enjoy it. I had to do the radiator and tires on mine. The radiators have a tendency to swell and start leaking. Viper specific parts have Viper tax so keep that in mind when you go to do something. I had to replace the...

1996 GTS on E-Bay with only 3,800 Miles, $59.9K, Good Deal?

So the car in the link is not the car described in the title. The car in the link looks pretty good. 22k miles with current bid at $39,100. Reserve is not met though, and with that it seems about average price to high.

Car is back together, and running like tops. Not sure I will rebuild another T56 myself. Just a big inconvenience. If I do, it will be a long time from now.

Glad to hear the sale went through, I know the new owner will love it, as it looked like a great example. Got the transmission out on Sat in about 2 hours. Went way smoother than I thought. After cracking open the case, looks like it ate the 6th gear thrust bearing. The tranny fluid was grey...

True, if you can tackle stuff yourself you can find deals. If I had not planned on doing the work myself, I definitely would have gone for a different one.

I did a complete rebuild on my 03 Z06 myself, so doing the Viper T56 rebuild doesn't worry me in the least. Going to do the clutch and motor mounts while I'm at it. I found out the fitting for the drain plug is a plumbers threaded plug, so I'm going to see if I can get something with a head and...

    Looking to buy a viper

My 96 was less than 30k and ran fine all 700 miles home. To say you can't get a running one for 30k is just wrong. It's not perfect, but I wasn't looking for perfect. Deals are out there if you are patient and willing to look for them.

    Looking to buy a viper

Phil's Viper would be a good one. I was looking at this one until I found mine. His looks to be in better shape than the one I ended up getting, but I've been enjoying the wrenching.

    Looking to buy a viper

Deals are out there if you search. I got my 96 for under 30k, but it has 86k miles and does need a little work, which is good with me, because I didn't want a queen. I wanted one I could enjoy without ruining it.

Well I guess the honeymoon is over cause I've got some more work to do. Car is now popping out of 5th and won't go into 6th, so I'm guessing a tranny rebuild is in store. I've done this on the Vette already, so should be no problem on the Viper. Looks like the parts to fix are even cheaper...

Just going to fix it up for now. Lots of little things. Under the front bumper is scratched up pretty bad, so I'm going to fix that. The Valve covers have lost almost all of their red paint, so going to paint them too. Going to do tranny fluid, coolant, and diff fluid changes too. Between...
