Gen 3 & 4 Double DIN Head Unit DIY

Introduction Better late than never? I'm admittedly about 10 years late to this party, maybe more. People have been installing Double DIN aftermarket head units in Gen 3 and 4 Vipers for many, many years. There are plenty of threads out there on this topic, most of which I perused while I was...

    Website Analysis

Work is already underway…pretty much everything will end up in the SRT10 (Gen 3/4) section, so I apologize in advance if it looks like I’m clogging up the place. It’ll certainly take me some time, but I just want this stuff preserved, easily searchable, and readily accessible to all Viper owners...

    Metal Gen 5 (2015-2017) Throttle Bodies on a Gen 4 (2008-2010)

Bonus: Throttle Body Airflow & PCM Control This is a question that comes up from time to time: when logging pedal position (driver demand) vs. throttle blade position (airflow delivered) vs. RPM, why does it only show 86-87% at WOT? Basically, when you mash the gas pedal to the floor, the...

    Metal Gen 5 (2015-2017) Throttle Bodies on a Gen 4 (2008-2010)

Cross Compatibility The metal throttle bodies easily swap between either the aluminum Gen 4 or the composite Gen 5 intake manifold. The bolt patterns are identical. You can use either the plastic or metal throttle bodies on the Gen 4 intake manifold, and the same goes for the Gen 5 intake...

    Metal Gen 5 (2015-2017) Throttle Bodies on a Gen 4 (2008-2010)

Securing the Adapter Harnesses When Dan mentioned using the correct contact plating surfaces (Gold/Silver instead of Tin) for the throttle body connectors, it made me realize how little I knew about automotive connectors. I still know very little about them, but I at least learned a couple of...

    Metal Gen 5 (2015-2017) Throttle Bodies on a Gen 4 (2008-2010)

Adapter Harness Wanna make an adapter harness? Although it is potentially another connection that could fail, this is the way to go if you want to be able to go back to stock in a matter of minutes. There's plenty of room under and around the throttle bodies for an adapter harness, and once...

    Metal Gen 5 (2015-2017) Throttle Bodies on a Gen 4 (2008-2010)

Background I've been wanting to do this for years. It took a long time, but I was finally able to piece together all the information thanks to a little digging around. Most everything is publicly available if you know where to look. And now, you shouldn't have to. The 2008-2010 Gen 4 and...

    Metal Gen 5 (2015-2017) Throttle Bodies on a Gen 4 (2008-2010)

DISCLAIMERS This is NOT a performance upgrade. I did this modification for three reasons: 1. Cosmetics - I think the metal throttle bodies look better, especially if you already have a Gen 5 intake manifold 2. Durability - the plastic throttle bodies never really let me down, but I've never...

OEM Sway Bar End Link Rebuild (w/ Pics)

Late last year, I ran into the all-too-common torn sway bar end link boot - just one on the passenger side rear. While I was digging around, I also noticed that the paint was flaking off of both: I decided to push it off a bit since I knew it would make a good winter time project. As fate...

    Website Analysis

This place needs some good technical content. I think I'm going to start porting stuff over from the old site, but organize it a little better. Interfacing with a static database is no way to preserve historical knowledge.

Gen 5 intake manifold on Gen 4 Questions?

I think the title GOAT is only available for purchase in the Viper community. I'm still waiting for it to go on sale...

Gen 5 intake manifold on Gen 4 Questions?

Difficult? Not particularly. - The old manifold comes out pretty easily - loosen all bolts, unhook the MAP sensor (passenger side rear of the intake), unhook the throttle bodies (no need to unplug them, just lay them aside), and pull all of the vacuum lines (one to the brake booster that...

Gen 5 intake manifold on Gen 4 Questions?

That wasn't the issue in this case. I went back through the currently archived website to grab all links...the filter on this site blocks out the main part of the URL (the site name). That's the type of pettiness I'm referring to...the website name shouldn't be a censored term under any...

Gen 5 intake manifold on Gen 4 Questions?

I did my best to guide, but posting a link to the "other" website, even though it is now a read-only archive, automatically gets censored by this forum's filters, thus breaking the link. There is some seriously petty ******** going on in this community, and I'm getting tired of it.

Tire Sale 2000-2001 Production New Tires

He's got newer date code tires too...I'm pretty sure he was storing mine in my next door neighbor's garage given how fast they showed up (22 hours, 43 minutes after placing my order):

Rebuilt my Gen 3/4 end links with torn boots - used these polyurethane replacement boots: https://www.ebay.com/itm/221486557923 Went from this: To this: Those were the rears...did the same with the fronts, minus stripping and repainting. If someone can verify the Gen 1s will take a...

    *** Lockout

It depends on what type of enthusiasts you want to attract. Their leadership values blind fealty. Questioning their motives or methods, especially over the past couple of years, was consistently met with contempt, even for some paying members. A car club with that much bureaucracy has totally...

    2008 Vert Differntial Issue?

I'd suggest trying a different fluid, specifically this one: It's the relabeled version of what used to be Castrol SAF-XJ. Available here: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-castrol-parts/castrol-saf-xj-75w140-500-ml/001989520310/

    Odometer Lighting

Here's an interesting issue I ran into. Over the past few years, I've had a couple of LED failures in the 4 gauge cluster on the dash. The few times it has happened, it's been intermittent (e.g. it would blink, or go out and then come back on a few minutes later). I dismissed it as cheap...

The PCMs were never encrypted. We've been able to tune Gen 4 & 5 Viper PCMs for years at this point.

    08 hood heat extractor grills

https://www.viperpartsrackamerica.com/index.php/products/2008-2010-dodge-viper-srt10-hood-screen-set $800. Part numbers are listed, and looks like you *might* be able to source them for around $75-80 ea. Bottom line: not something you want to break or lose.

    08 hood heat extractor grills

Yes, they use the standard "Christmas Tree" plastic push pins. When I removed mine, I made sure to get them nice and hot first by taking the car for a drive and really letting them heat soak to make sure they were a little more pliable. Just be gentle (but firm), and you should be able to...

    Moton Club Rebuild

I've heard of people installing the rears that way. Many years ago when I was trying to figure out how I was going to install my MCS shocks with the remote reservoirs (same design as what you have), it was either do that, or get a little more creative with the pass-through vent thingy that...

FS: 05-06 Shortblocks, exhaust, wheels, etc.

Those will only work with the stock manifolds. If you went with headers, you'd have to replace that section with something that would work with whatever headers you decided on.
