    The "mileage question"

Ok, my last comments: I'm done trying to scare you to death. It's torque that let's you release the clutch without giving it gas and it moves just like an automatic tranny. Like MoparMap says, these things are pussy cats until you stick your foot in it. Depending on the local speed limits I like...

    The "mileage question"

YES!!! And if the tires are older it will break them loose in a heartbeat! These cars are absolutely ICONIC, but you have to respect them before you start showing off. I got impatient one time and went around some road zombi, kicked it as I did and was immediately in the oncoming lane. Luckily...

    The "mileage question"

Well, be careful when you get on that new horse, cowboy, it can be a bucking bronco. You would not be the first to wreck his Viper right out of the gate. Get acquainted with it first and then you can stab it, with the wheels pointed straight ahead. I tell every newbie this and I'm dead serious. GS

Do you have a 2006 Copperhead (Colored) Coupe? - READ HERE

Those Vipers are great cars even tho I'm a Gen II fan. There was a fabulous Copperhead on eBay a few months back with 3500 miles. Super clean. Started at 55 and relisted for 60k and sold! I was tempted to take a shot, but it got complicated. Hope you find yours. GS

    IVR Upgrade

Yeh. I sort of figured the other Gens info would have to change the format and structure some. Bottom line: this is the best Viper site and we're all lucky to be driving the car that changed the American automotive scene, regardless of what Generation it may be.

    IVR Upgrade

Seems like some info is scrambled that used to be concise. I bot a 2002 RT-10 about 3 years ago. I wanted to know the production #'s on my new car and how many had the cognac interior. The old IVR had that easily accessible showing the # of cars made in graphite metallic. Clicking on that figure...

    2002 RT Full Borla Exhaust

Hi, one member just went with hi flo cats vs the stock ones. Got them from Roe Racing. Said the sound was just right, not too loud, but better than stock. Another much more expensive option might be a Corsa system. That would be a little more conservative, but still give the exhaust some...

    The "mileage question"

Other things that factor in: Was the car allowed to just sit there? Or at least started up once a week; better yet driven up and down the driveway or around the block. Potential for seals to dry out due to lack of use. Fluid changes performed? Tires, obviously. Low miles are sometimes a red flag...

1st Time Gen 2 buyer - Need Advice

I was goofing around on CL and thot I'd check out the "tempest search" feature. Couldn't find it. How is it found or activated? Thx in advance.

    Front thumb screws

I guess when you make any mods you have to consider their intended purpose and not over-ride it. That was why I put the caveat at the end of my post. There have been a number of points made on going metal. All have merit. Anti-seize was a good point for those of us that drive in weather. I...

    2001 viper gts various questions

Here's a pic of that missing cover. 4 screws on top, one around the corner by the washer tank and 2 phillys on the bottom. You can see my battery tender coming out the back.

    Front thumb screws

I always thot the plastic thumb screws were a cheap choice for a 75k car. They hold the removable portion of the front splash guards, 6 on each side. I recently tried to remove them and was sure they were going to snap. Plus the 1" base conforms to the slots in the part that's over the headlight...

    Low Coolant In Overflow??

There are a lot of threads on removal. One's almost as good as a video. Search facia removal.

    2001 viper gts various questions

Unless you took it off for illustration, the cover for the wiring where the tender line comes out is missing. It's basically a rectangular metal cover that fits over that exposed area with the large loom cable and the plug-ins below it and uses the 2 holes you see exposed. Hope you get it all...

    Low Coolant In Overflow??

A few of questions come to mind; "pop off the front bumper", do you mean the facia? That takes only 5-10 mins? And why "top off" the tanks with just distilled water? Wouldn't you want to keep the overflow tank at the 1/2 way mark? Curious, GS

    Front suspension

I don't have access to a lift. I jacked her up just to take wheels off and clean gunk off the backsides. I also took a look at everything suspension-wise. I've always had a problem with wheel hop until a mile or two have been driven then it goes away. The original Michs did it and the Goodrich...

    Front suspension

Yeh, I took it out for a ride and expected things to settle down, but the car was still high. I'll just be patient. Thx, Guys

    Front suspension

Thx Robert, I wonder if that indicates the torsion bar bushings and suspension bushings need some silicon spray, or is that a "jeez don't do that" moment"?

    Front suspension

I just worked both front wheel wells one at a time using a conventional Viper tire jack. After it was all done the front was a few inches higher than normal as usual. I expected the facia/front to set back to what I considered it's normal height, but it's still sitting hi. Will it take a hard...

    Street tires

Well........you shoulda put Goodrich tires on. I hate getting new tires. No matter how much you plead and fuss the tire guys always beat the wheels up. The Rivals have a soft tread compound and really give confidence on the curves. But that probably means I'll have to get new tires sooner. Can't...
